Supervisor Warehouse
Function
As Supervisor Warehouse You will be responsible for the day-to-day organisation, management and further optimisation of a large warehouse in Ternat, Flemish Brabant. You will work closely with the Logistics Manager and support the Team Leaders with both operational and staff-related issues. You will maintain a visible presence on the shop floor, roll up your sleeves and get stuck in when necessary, and ensure that staff, processes and departments work together efficiently.
In this role, you will play a key part in people management. You will assist with planning, monitoring absences, processing leave requests and organising a viable staffing schedule. In addition, you will coach and motivate a team of around 12 permanent staff and approximately 12 agency staff, with the aim of expanding the team to around 16 to 20 employees. You will ensure that agreements, objectives and collaboration on the work floor are upheld in a calm and consistent manner.
- Take responsibility for the day-to-day running of the warehouse, including inbound operations, picking, packing and related logistics activities.
- Supporting team leaders with operational, organisational and staff-related challenges.
- Act as the point of contact for staff, agency workers and other relevant departments.
- Monitor and adjust planning, staffing levels, absences and leave requests where necessary.
- Set clear objectives for staff, motivate them and hold them to account for their cooperation, productivity and work commitments.
- To promote collaboration between the warehouse, transport, planning, procurement and customer service departments.
- Monitoring productivity, quality, safety and service using relevant KPIs.
- Identify areas for improvement in processes and propose and implement specific optimisations.
- Contribute to more efficient operational processes and the smooth organisation of logistics activities.
- Working with the MRS and Movu robot systems and ensuring they are properly integrated into day-to-day operations.
- Provide hands-on support during busy periods and actively monitor progress on the shop floor.
You will mainly work during the day: from Monday to Thursday from 8.00 am to 4.30 pm and on Fridays until 3.30 pm. During busy periods, you will be expected to show the necessary flexibility to ensure the smooth running of warehouse operations.
Profile
For this role, we are looking for an experienced manager who understands logistics processes, enjoys working alongside staff and provides guidance in a mature manner. You don’t need to take centre stage to make an impact: you build credibility by being present, consistently following through on commitments and taking responsibility yourself. You remain calm when the workload increases and know how to provide clear, respectful guidance.
- Ideally, you should have at least 5 years of experience in a managerial or coordinating role within logistics, warehousing or a similar operational environment.
- You have a good understanding of warehouse processes, including inbound, picking, packing, planning and staff allocation.
- You have experience in managing, coaching and motivating permanent staff and agency workers.
- You are skilled at managing people and are able to hold staff to account regarding their behaviour, teamwork, productivity and commitments made.
- You are organised, keep track of things and are able to set priorities during busy periods.
- You have a hands-on approach and are willing to step in and help out on the operational side whenever the situation calls for it.
- You communicate clearly and collaborate effectively with team leaders, the Logistics Manager and other departments.
- You take the initiative, think in terms of solutions and are not afraid to take a critical look at existing working methods.
- You have sufficient patience and steadfastness to guide a team in a calm and consistent manner.
- You feel at ease in an environment where flexibility, commitment and teamwork are important.
- Knowledge of WMS systems, MRS, the Movu robot system and logistics KPIs is an asset.
- You speak and write Dutch very well. A good knowledge of French would be an advantage.
- A graduate qualification or equivalent level of experience is suitable for this role.
