Banking and Insurance Officer
Function
As a bank employee, you’ll start by building a solid foundation. You’ll get to know the customers and the branch, and begin by gaining a thorough understanding of day-to-day banking operations. You’ll be given time to develop: during your first year, the focus will mainly be on service and providing the right support, after which you’ll gradually take on more commercial responsibilities.
Your duties will include:
- Welcoming customers and assisting them at the counter;
- Answering enquiries by telephone;
- Assistance with day-to-day banking transactions;
- Assisting customers with their day-to-day banking matters;
- In the long term, to assist with insurance and claims management;
- Gradually building up knowledge in the field of investments;
- Identify customer needs and propose commercial solutions with a long-term focus.
You’ll mainly be starting out with smaller clients and straightforward banking enquiries. Large portfolios and complex cases won’t be part of your role initially. This will give you the opportunity to build up the necessary knowledge and experience.
During the first few months, the emphasis is on reactive and client-focused work. As you become more confident in your role, the focus will gradually shift towards advisory and commercial activities. In the longer term, you will therefore have the opportunity to take on a fully-fledged commercial role within the firm, working in an investor-facing capacity.
You’ll be working with a close-knit team where consultation is key. The day begins with a joint morning pep talk, and there’s a team meeting scheduled for Thursdays.
Profile
For this role, we are primarily looking for someone with the right attitude and a desire to develop their career in the financial sector over the long term.
- You are a school leaver or have between 1 and 3 years’ work experience at most;
- You hold a relevant bachelor’s degree, preferably in finance, economics, insurance or a related subject;
- A PCP certificate is a nice bonus;
- You’re digitally savvy and pick up new systems quickly;
- You are driven, positive and committed;
- You take responsibility and are conscientious in your work;
- You have a practical and solution-oriented approach;
- You enjoy working with others and, above all, are a true team player;
- You have the ambition to make a difference commercially in the long term;
- You understand that growth takes time and are open to feedback and guidance;
- You work in a disciplined and professional manner when dealing with customers, colleagues and the organisation;
- You take ownership of your work, but you also know when to let things go.
Being a good fit for the team means, above all, that you’re keen to get stuck in. You don’t need to know everything right away. However, they do expect you to give your best every day and to be keen to grow alongside the office.
Organisation
You will be joining a financial firm with two branches in the Knokke-Heist area. The organisation has recently focused strongly on further growth and development and intends to continue along these lines in the coming years.
Work is currently being carried out from two locations. Furthermore, a move to new premises in a new-build development is planned for the future. This new environment is intended to enhance the image for both customers and staff and will provide scope for further expansion of operations.
Growth is central to our firm. This applies not only to the organisation, but also to our staff. You will have the opportunity to take on more responsibility step by step and to further develop your role. A strong team forms the basis for this: colleagues work closely together, help each other to progress and expect the same level of commitment from one another.
As well as day-to-day work, we also invest in team dynamics. A team-building event is organised roughly every three months, each time with a different theme. From having a meal together to visiting a summer bar or taking part in a sporting activity: the team makes a conscious effort to spend time together.
Offer
You’ll be offered a full-time role in an environment where you aren’t expected to know everything from day one. You’ll start at the basics and be given the time to develop your knowledge and responsibilities further.
On the other hand:
- A clear career path where your salary can increase as you take on more responsibility;
- 8 meal vouchers per day worked;
- A net payment of approximately €100 to €150;
- Hospitalisation insurance through DKV;
- 20 days’ leave + bank holidays;
- A full-time position of 37.5 hours per week;
- Wednesday afternoon off;
- A strong team spirit with regular activities and team-building events;
- An environment where training, support and career progression are key.
