Technical Support Engineer

Location: Evergem, East Flanders, Belgium Specialisation: Engineering Salary: € 3.000 - € 4.500 bruto / month Contracttype: Indefinite time Hours: 40 hrs/week Work ritme: Day

Function

As a Technical Support Engineer, you’ll be a key technical point of contact for customers and will primarily be responsible for technical support and after-sales service. You’ll first attempt to resolve issues remotely and involve other technical colleagues when a case becomes more complex.

  • You will assist business clients with technical enquiries regarding the products supplied and bespoke solutions.
  • You will deal with both day-to-day technical queries and more complex issues.
  • You analyse technical problems and carry out a targeted search for the cause and a suitable solution.
  • You provide support by telephone and email.
  • You will manage technical after-sales cases from start to finish.
  • Your responsibilities will include dealing with missing parts, claims for damages, technical faults and issues relating to bespoke work.
  • If necessary, you should arrange for a technician to carry out an on-site visit.
  • You will regularly consult with colleagues from departments including R&D, engineering and production to resolve more complex problems.
  • You bring the right people together when a problem requires expertise from different departments.
  • You will help to devise structural solutions to ensure that similar problems can be avoided in the future.
  • You can get involved at an early stage of a project to contribute your ideas based on your experience as a technical support specialist.
  • You are in regular contact with international clients, including a key client portfolio in France.

Profile

As a Technical Support Engineer, you don’t need to know the answer to every technical question straight away. What’s far more important is that you combine technical insight with strong problem-solving skills and take the initiative to find the right solution yourself.

  • You hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electromechanics, or have equivalent experience.
  • You have a good understanding of mechanics and technology.
  • You’re good at troubleshooting and enjoy analysing problems step by step.
  • You take the initiative and don’t just sit back and wait when a technical problem arises.
  • You have a practical mindset and think in terms of solutions.
  • You are able to manage cases independently, but actively seek to collaborate when other expertise is required.
  • You communicate easily with both technical and non-technical contacts.
  • A good command of Dutch is essential.
  • You have a good basic knowledge of French and are confident enough to speak the language actively.
  • Your French doesn’t need to be perfect just yet: you’ll learn specific technical terms as you go along in the job.
  • You are customer-focused and able to explain technical information clearly.
  • You enjoy variety and find it interesting to tackle different kinds of technical problems.
  • You’ll feel at home in a direct and open corporate culture where colleagues consult with one another frequently.

Organisation

You will be joining a Belgian manufacturing company specialising in high-quality, bespoke technical solutions in metal. Development, engineering and production are all located in close proximity, which means that technical queries can be discussed quickly in-house.

The company operates primarily in the B2B sector and serves both a Belgian and an international client base. Due to the high proportion of bespoke work, there is close collaboration between the various technical departments.

You’ll be working in an open-plan office where lines of communication are short. If a technical problem arises, there’s no endless back-and-forth via email: colleagues look at the problem together, bring in someone from R&D or engineering if necessary, and work together to find a practical solution.

The organisation has a flat structure and a direct working culture. Everyone takes responsibility for their own area, but colleagues also step in to help one another when necessary.

Offer

As a Technical Support Engineer, you will receive a remuneration package tailored to your technical knowledge and relevant experience. You will also be given the time to gain a thorough understanding of the products, their applications and the most common technical issues.

  • A competitive gross monthly salary based on knowledge and experience.
  • Meal vouchers.
  • You work a 40-hour week.
  • Flexible working hours, allowing you to start between 7.00 am and 9.00 am.
  • A varied technical role involving a great deal of responsibility and contact with customers.
  • A great deal of internal collaboration with R&D, engineering and production.
  • Opportunities to further develop your technical product knowledge.
  • A role in which you can continue to develop both technically and in terms of problem-solving.

Diversity and inclusion are important to CTRL-F.
Whoever, whatever or however you are or what you stand for, it is your talents that make the difference.
