Function

As a Technical Estimator for Metalwork, you act as the link between the customer, the administration department and production. You not only process orders, but also contribute technical input and ensure that customers are kept properly and promptly informed.

  • You will process incoming orders and carry out the necessary administrative follow-up.
  • You will carry out pricing and cost calculations for products that are often made to measure.
  • You manage enquiries via the order and quotation inboxes.
  • You interpret technical information and plans in order to carry out accurate calculations.
  • You will monitor current orders as they progress through production.
  • You are the first point of contact for customers and answer their questions or put them in touch with the right colleague.
  • You communicate proactively with customers should any problems or delays arise during production.
  • You also find it harder to break bad news in a friendly and tactful way.
  • You set priorities and liaise internally when certain orders need to be processed more quickly.
  • Throughout the day, you switch effortlessly between phone calls, emails, calculations, orders and enquiries from the production department.
  • Depending on how the role is further defined, you may also be responsible for practical coordination with regular transport partners.

Profile

For this role as a Metalwork Technical Estimator, we are primarily looking for someone with technical insight, strong communication skills and sufficient maturity to set priorities independently. Your qualification is less important than your technical insight and your approach to work.

  • You have completed a technical course at A2, bachelor’s or master’s level.
  • A background in electromechanics, mechanics, metalworking, the automotive sector, industrial sciences or a similar field would be of interest.
  • You have a good understanding of mechanics and spatial awareness.
  • You can read and interpret technical drawings.
  • Experience in a metalworking or manufacturing environment is a strong advantage.
  • Even a school leaver with strong technical skills may be eligible.
  • You are computer-literate and can work confidently with Office and an ERP system.
  • Proficiency in Dutch is an absolute must.
  • In addition, you are able to express yourself very well in French and English.
  • A knowledge of German would be an advantage.
  • You are proactive, take the initiative and do not simply wait for a problem to arise.
  • You’re good at setting priorities and remain calm when several things demand your attention at once.
  • You communicate in a friendly and tactful manner, whilst at the same time standing your ground.
  • You’re confident enough to speak to customers on the phone, even when you have to deliver bad news.
  • You enjoy a straightforward working environment where colleagues communicate openly and are not afraid to speak their minds.
  • Ideally, you are looking for a role in which you can develop your career in the long term.

Organisation

You will be joining a Belgian manufacturer of high-quality, bespoke technical solutions in metal, where design, mechanics and production come together. The equipment is developed and manufactured in-house and combines metalworking, mechanics, design and combustion technology.

The company operates primarily in the B2B sector and supplies its products through a network of specialist dealers and installers, both in Belgium and internationally. As a significant proportion of the products are made to measure, the administration, engineering and production departments work closely together.

You’ll be joining a relatively small and close-knit team with a flat organisational structure. Lines of communication are short and colleagues work closely together, which means that issues can be discussed and resolved quickly. The corporate culture is open and direct: people take responsibility, help one another and speak their minds.

Offer

As a Technical Estimator in the Metalworking Sector, you will receive a remuneration package tailored to your experience and technical skills. The employer is open to both junior candidates with potential for development and those who already have relevant experience.

  • Gross monthly salary of between €3,400 and €4,000, depending on skills and experience.
  • Meal vouchers.
  • Possibility of bicycle leasing.
  • A company car may be included in the package in due course, depending on your skills and career progression within the role.
  • You will receive thorough in-house training to familiarise yourself with the products, cost calculations and internal procedures.
  • You will be taking on a varied technical role offering a great deal of independence and responsibility.

Diversity and inclusion are important to CTRL-F.
Whoever, whatever or however you are or what you stand for, it is your talents that make the difference.
