Technical Buyer

Function

As a Technical Buyer, you are responsible for ensuring a smooth, accurate and efficient procurement process. You combine day-to-day operational procurement with supplier management, commercial negotiations and procurement-related improvement projects.

You act as a key link between suppliers, project managers, internal departments and the Procurement Manager.

Your duties will include:

• You will manage the entire operational procurement process, from request to order.
• You request quotations, compare prices and delivery terms, and select the most suitable supplier.
• You negotiate professionally on prices, quality, payment terms and delivery times.
• You enter orders, order confirmations and purchase details correctly into the ERP system.
• You keep a close eye on deliveries, changes and discrepancies.
• You take proactive action when orders are delayed or are not delivered as agreed.
• You will work alongside project managers and other internal stakeholders to resolve technical and operational procurement issues efficiently.
• You’ll deal with issues relating to suppliers, orders and invoices, and seek sustainable solutions.
• You will build strong relationships with suppliers and monitor their performance.
• You actively seek out alternative suppliers when price, quality, availability or supply reliability make it necessary.
• You will assist with supplier and market analyses.
• You will contribute to procurement strategies, focusing on cost control, quality, risks and business continuity.
• You will be involved in projects relating to supplier selection, standardisation, digitalisation, contract management and process optimisation.
• You will ensure that procurement procedures, approval workflows and internal agreements are followed correctly.
• You help to ensure that procurement data is reliable and up to date.

Profile

For this role, we are looking for a Technical Buyer with a commercial mindset and a keen interest in technical products and services.

You recognise yourself in the following profile:

• You have experience as a Buyer, Technical Buyer, Procurement Officer, Purchaser or in a similar role.
• Experience in a technical, industrial, project-based or engineering environment is a key asset.
• You have a sufficient level of technical interest and understanding to quickly grasp product specifications, technical requirements and supplier information.
• You have a business-minded approach and feel at ease when negotiating with suppliers.
• You’re not afraid to discuss price, quality, delivery times and commercial terms.
• You take a results-oriented approach to your work, whilst taking into account the organisation’s technical requirements and operational needs.
• You have strong analytical skills and are able to critically assess quotations, terms and conditions, supplier performance and purchase data.
• You work accurately and in a structured manner when processing and following up on orders.
• You have a practical mindset and get a kick out of solving operational procurement problems.
• You work independently and proactively, but also liaise easily with project teams and internal stakeholders.
• You’ll play an active role in devising strategies for efficiency, cost optimisation and the improvement of procurement processes.
• You are fluent in Dutch and English.
• You are flexible and able to cope well with changing priorities within an organisation that is evolving.
