Technical Buyer

Do you enjoy playing a key role in the purchasing process of critical technical products and services? Then the position of Technical Buyer is for you. Below is a sample of your responsibilities:

• Responsible for the full spectrum from sourcing to category management, supplier relations and coordinating operational procurement.
• Oversee purchases for consumables as capital goods within technical goods and services.
• Thinking along with the technical department and with suppliers for figuring out the best long-term solutions.
• Determine procurement strategy by category and drive the procurement process for technical goods and services.
• Liaison between technical warehouse, maintenance department and project department.
• Close collaboration with quality and EHS team to ensure all suppliers are compliant.
• You are also the main point of contact for technical departments, maintenance departments and the technical warehouse. With your technical expertise, strong negotiation skills and commercial feel, you will directly contribute to the growth and optimisation of the processes.
• You will report directly to the supply chain & procurement manager.

Profile

For this role, we are looking for a Experienced Technical Buyer with the following qualifications:

• Minimum 5 years' experience in a relevant position, preferably within procurement or technical sales of goods or services.
• Technical knowledge of products such as valves, pumps, piping, mechanical components, and Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I),...
• An undergraduate or engineering degree, but relevant work experience is considered equivalent.
• Excellent negotiation skills and strong commercial attitude.
• Analytical skills and ability to make technical translations and propose alternative solutions.
• Ability to independently seek suppliers, evaluate offers and set up tenders.
• You work conscientiously and are strong in managing your files.
• Fluent command of Dutch and English, both written and oral.
• A proactive team player with strong communication skills.

Organisation

Our client is a family-owned international company with several sites in the United States and one European site in Belgium. The Kallo site employs about 135 people and is the hub of the group in Europe.

The company combines two core businesses:

Production of in-house chemical products for the B2B market and custom manufacturing which is the largest segment of their business. They carry out chemical processes such as distillations and reactions for external customers looking for reliable and flexible production capacity. This can range from upgrading batches with contamination to handling side streams or intermediate steps in complex production processes.

Their strong team of engineers and great flexibility allow them to respond quickly to market needs.

To strengthen the procurement team, they are currently looking for a Technical Buyer.
