Operations Manager

Function

As Operations Manager at this national player in the logistics sector, you will be responsible for the overall operational management of a complex distribution operation. This operation runs 24/7 and focuses specifically on the coordination and distribution of time-sensitive deliveries via a network of external transport partners.

You combine strategic insight with a hands-on approach and are responsible for both day-to-day operations and the ongoing optimisation of processes.

Your main responsibilities will include:

• Managing and coordinating a national distribution network of external transport partners.
• Managing a team of around 12 to 15 staff members, including regional coordinators and in-house operational specialists.
• Monitoring KPIs, budgets and operational performance to improve process quality.
• Anticipating logistical challenges through data analysis and translating these into concrete improvement projects.
• Maintaining strong business relationships with logistics partners.
• Ensuring compliance, audits and quality standards through operational monitoring.
• Developing contingency plans to ensure business continuity.
• Collaborating with internal departments such as Finance, Project Management and Commercial Teams to achieve shared objectives.

Profile

For this challenging role, we are looking for an experienced Operations Manager who excels in strategic and operational leadership. Your profile:

• At least 10 years’ relevant experience in operations, logistics or distribution.
• Proven experience in successfully leading teams and coaching staff.
• A strong understanding of KPI management, data analysis and budget control.
• Excellent organisational skills, striking a good balance between strategic vision and an operational approach.
• Good communication skills and the ability to persuade, enabling you to collaborate effectively with both internal and external stakeholders.
• An excellent command of Dutch and a good knowledge of French.
• Flexibility to be available for approximately 30% of your time at operational sites during the night.

The organisation is responsible for the end-to-end management of a specific distribution flow, organising and monitoring daily deliveries via a network of external transport partners.

The activities include, amongst other things, operational planning, quality monitoring, data analysis and performance management. There is a strong focus on reliability, tight schedules (often involving night-time operations) and the continuous optimisation of logistics processes within a complex network of partners.
