Location: Harelbeke, West Flanders, Belgium Specialisation: Construct Engineering Salary: € 3.500 - € 6.000 gross / month Contracttype: Indefinite time Hours: 40 hrs/week Work ritme: Day

Function

  • As a Civil Engineering Estimator, you will translate plans, technical dossiers and quantities into a reliable cost estimate and a feasible project approach.
  • You analyse tender and project information, identify areas for attention and contribute ideas on optimisations that enhance feasibility and competitiveness.
  • Based on your calculations, you will draw up an accurate and well-founded quotation, ensuring that clients receive a clear proposal and that projects get off to a financially sound start.
  • You request quotes from suppliers and subcontractors, compare the information received and carefully incorporate the results into the cost estimate.
  • Consulting with project leaders and technical colleagues helps you to test assumptions, identify risks in good time and have a say in the preparation of dossiers.
  • As a cost estimator, you will gradually build up expertise in materials, construction methods, quantities and pricing structures within the civil engineering sector.
  • You will be working in a technical construction environment where meticulous preparation has a direct impact on the quality, feasibility and profitability of projects.

Profile

  • A bachelor’s or master’s degree in civil engineering, or equivalent technical knowledge gained through experience, provides a good foundation for this vacancy.
  • Technical insight and an interest in figures will help you to understand plans, estimate quantities accurately and identify the links between implementation and cost.
  • Some initial experience with cost estimation, preparing quotations or project support would be an advantage, but is not essential; you will be given the opportunity to learn the role as you go along.
  • Accuracy and analytical skills are important because even small discrepancies in quantities, prices or assumptions can affect the entire proposal.
  • You communicate clearly and enjoy working with a range of technical colleagues. This enables you to critically assess information, ask questions and arrive at a consensus on calculations.
