Steel Structures Architectural Draughtsman
Function
- As a Steel Structures Architectural Draughtsman, you will translate technical specifications into a precise 3D model of the foundations, steel structure, and roof and wall cladding.
- Using that model, you draw up construction plans and production drawings for steel structures, wall and floor elements. In this way, you provide the production and construction teams with clear, practical information.
- You will coordinate your draughting work with structural engineers and fellow draughtsmen, and work together to find technically feasible, safe and efficient solutions.
- Throughout your projects, you ensure that the drawings are complete and accurate, so that the various components fit together correctly.
- For the materials and components required for your projects, you should place the necessary orders and ensure compliance with the technical requirements.
- You will be involved in a wide range of steel construction projects for sectors including agriculture, equestrian facilities, industry and office environments, as well as commercial units.
- In a practical and open working environment, you’ll be given the opportunity to contribute ideas, take the initiative and gradually build up your responsibilities as a technical draughtsman.
Profile
- A diploma in Architectural Drafting provides a good foundation; equivalent experience or a comparable technical training programme will also be considered.
- You have a good grasp of technical and spatial concepts and are able to translate architectural and structural information into a clear model and accurate drawings.
- A good knowledge of AutoCAD is required to take on this role effectively. Experience with Parabuild and/or Tekla Structures is an added advantage.
- You work with precision and in a structured manner, as even minor deviations in steel structures can have a major impact on production and assembly.
- An analytical approach helps you to get to the bottom of technical issues and assess solutions in terms of feasibility and efficiency.
- You take responsibility for your work, are able to work independently and consult others in good time when a decision or further information is required.
- A flexible and calm approach to work is important in order to continue to keep a close eye on various projects and changing technical requirements. This vacancy is suitable for both someone with limited experience and a technical draughtsman who wishes to further develop their knowledge.
