Warehouse Team Leader – Permanent, Early Shift

Function

As Team Lead, Permanent Early Shift at Merelbeke-Melle You will oversee the day-to-day running of the warehouse and ensure that everything runs smoothly, safely and to a high standard. You will combine operational management with a coaching approach and act as a visible point of contact for your team, customers and external drivers.

In this role, you will take on an active, hands-on responsibility within a rapidly evolving organisation. You will work on the permanent early shift at 5.00 am to 1.00 pm and reports directly to the Site Manager.

Your duties will include:

• Managing, coaching and guiding warehouse staff and order pickers in day-to-day operations.
• The efficient organisation of cross-docking, picking and packing in accordance with the agreed quality and deadline requirements.
• Maintaining smooth and professional relations with customers and external drivers.
• Ensuring that processes and records are correctly monitored within the Warehouse Management System.
• Managing administrative tasks such as time recording, and monitoring sick leave and annual leave.
• Maintaining order, tidiness and structure in the workplace in accordance with the 5S principles.
• Actively monitoring compliance with safety regulations, work instructions and environmental regulations.
• Rolling up your sleeves and getting stuck in yourself when operational needs require it.

Profile

For this role, we are looking for an experienced and people-focused team leader who thrives on managing an operational team whilst maintaining an overview in a dynamic warehouse environment. You have strong communication skills, are decisive, and know how to engage people in a positive way when it comes to change and day-to-day priorities.

We expect you to have:

• A bachelor’s degree, or equivalent experience in a managerial role within a warehouse or logistics environment.
• 3 to 5 years’ relevant experience in an operational or coaching role.
• A strong communication style and the ability to motivate and lead a team.
• A coaching-based leadership approach that emphasises collaboration, respect and professionalism.
• A good knowledge of MS Office and experience with in-house software or WMS systems.
• A good working knowledge of the Dutch and the French.
• Flexibility, the ability to cope with stress and a hands-on approach.
• A sense of responsibility, initiative and a strong sense of order, safety and structure.
• A forklift licence; this is an advantage.
