Vacancy
Transport planner
Function
- As a Transport Planner in Oudenaarde, you oversee the daily transport flow of a medium-sized logistics organisation with groupage and trailer transport both domestically and internationally. Thanks to your oversight, runs depart correctly and clients and drivers remain well informed.
- Communication with lorry drivers takes place via telephone, e-mail, and in-person reception. You translate the planning into clear work instructions and ensure everyone can get started with the right information.
- By actively monitoring runs, drivers, and transports, you quickly notice delays or changes. Where necessary, you adjust the execution and limit the impact on further planning.
- You contribute to efficient and cost-conscious transport planning, taking into account available vehicles, loading and unloading times, and the practical feasibility of every run.
- You proactively share relevant information with Dispatch, Customer Service, and other colleagues involved. This avoids misunderstandings and supports smooth collaboration across departments.
- You prepare the necessary transport documents accurately and process them in the available systems. Knowledge of Transics and TAS is an added advantage, but not a requirement.
- In unexpected situations, you think along in a solution-oriented way. As a transport coordinator, you make decisions at the right moment and directly contribute to a reliable service for clients and partners.
Profile
- You preferably have 3 to 5 years of experience in transport planning, dispatching, or a comparable logistical role. This means you understand the dynamics of road transport and can quickly determine priorities.
- You use Dutch, French, and English fluently in contacts with drivers, colleagues, and transport partners. Clear communication is essential to convey instructions correctly and flag issues in a timely manner.
- A good knowledge of the national and international road network helps you to assess routes realistically and quickly find alternatives when the planning changes.
- You work independently, reason logically, and take responsibility for your decisions. Microsoft Office is a familiar environment for you; experience with Transics or TAS is a welcome bonus.
- Staying calm under pressure, acting proactively, and thinking in solutions make the difference in this role. You enjoy a working day with momentum, whilst maintaining the accuracy that transport documents and schedules demand.
Organisation
You will be joining a medium-sized Belgian transport and logistics company that specialises in groupage transport to and from France and the United Kingdom.
Offer
- A full-time position of 37 hours per week with a permanent contract.
- An attractive and market-competitive salary, supplemented by meal vouchers, a group insurance, a bicycle lease plan, and a bonus scheme.
- A working hours window between 07:00 and 18:00, within a limited shift system. This keeps structure in your working day whilst also allowing room to support the transport operation effectively.
- An easily accessible workplace in Oudenaarde, reachable via the E40 and by public transport.
- A role within a growing Belgian transport and logistics organisation where service, teamwork, respect, and customer focus are visible in everyday collaboration.
- Training and on-the-job learning, complemented by opportunities to develop further towards broader planning, dispatching, or other logistical responsibilities.
- A collegial working environment in which you collaborate with a team of approximately 80 colleagues and directly see the impact your decisions have on day-to-day service delivery.
