Transport Planner – Day Shift
Function
For our client in Lummen, we are looking for a Transport planner on day shift. In this role, you will help ensure the smooth and efficient day-to-day planning of distribution and collection activities within an environment where timing, quality and service are paramount. In an operational role, you will work closely with drivers, subcontractors and colleagues from other departments to ensure the flow of goods is managed safely, accurately and with a focus on customer service.
You play a key role in day-to-day operations and constantly keep track of resources, routes and priorities. You anticipate changing circumstances and adapt quickly to ensure the continuity of operations.
- You will organise and optimise the day-to-day distribution and collection of goods from customers;
- You schedule drivers and vehicles efficiently, taking into account staffing levels, timing and capacity;
- You will closely monitor the operational planning and make adjustments where necessary;
- You will be in daily contact with drivers, agency staff and subcontractors;
- You’ll liaise with internal teams on site to ensure everything runs smoothly;
- You will ensure quality, safety, compliance with regulations and cost awareness at every stage of the planning process;
- You quickly identify bottlenecks and actively contribute ideas for improvements to the flow of goods.
Profile
For this role of Day-shift transport planner We are looking for a planner with 3 to 5 years’ experience and a strong interest in transport and operational logic. You feel at home in a dynamic environment where you need to adapt quickly, manage priorities and, at the same time, continue to work with precision.
- You should preferably have some initial experience within the operations department of a freight transport company, ideally in groupage or distribution;
- You speak Dutch fluently; knowledge of French is an advantage;
- You are familiar with computer tools and are quick to learn how to use new systems;
- You have a good knowledge of the geography of Belgium;
- You are flexible and work well in an environment where plans change regularly;
- You work in an organised and structured manner, with an eye for detail;
- You are proactive, responsive and solution-oriented;
- You are customer-focused and communicate clearly with drivers, colleagues and external partners.
