Transport Account Manager

Function

As Transport Account Manager You will be responsible for developing, implementing and managing the organisation’s strategic and operational transport policy. You will play a key role in optimising our transport strategy and creating a sustainable, cost-effective and safe transport organisation that aligns with our business objectives and customer expectations. Your responsibilities will include, amongst other things:

• Contribute to the development and implementation of the transport strategy in line with the company’s objectives.
• Optimisation of transport networks, capacity planning and route management (covering primary, secondary and tertiary transport).
• Operational support for day-to-day transport activities, such as complaints handling, route optimisation and customer enquiries.
• Drawing up, managing and monitoring transport budgets and financial KPIs.
• Maintaining relationships with transport partners, negotiating contracts and drafting RFPs.
• Ensuring compliance with transport legislation, safety and sustainability standards.
• Monitoring key KPIs, such as delivery reliability, transport costs and sustainability targets.

You will be based at our head office in Brussels, with a focus on close collaboration with internal stakeholders and other departments within the organisation.

Profile

For this challenging role as Transport Account Manager We are looking for an experienced professional who has:

• At least 10 years’ experience in a managerial role within the transport or logistics sector.
• In-depth knowledge of transport regulations and legislation within the Benelux.
• Strong communication and negotiation skills in Dutch and French, with a good command of English.
• Excellent digital skills and experience with transport planning systems (experience with SAP is an advantage; a strong knowledge of MS Excel is required).
• A hands-on approach and problem-solving skills; you show initiative and meet deadlines.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including regular night-time visits to our distribution sites in various regions (Mollem, Lokeren, Paal-Beringen, Jumet, Wommelgem, Roeselare).

In addition, you are able to manage change constructively and achieve strategic objectives within a dynamic environment.

Organisation

This is a national player in the logistics sector, specialising in the coordination and distribution of time-sensitive deliveries. The organisation is responsible for the end-to-end management of a specific distribution flow, organising and monitoring daily deliveries via a network of external transport partners.

The activities include, amongst other things, operational planning, quality monitoring, data analysis and performance management. There is a strong focus on reliability, tight schedules (often involving night-time operations) and the continuous optimisation of logistics processes within a complex network of partners.

We offer a full-time management role (38 hours per week) with an attractive remuneration package that includes the following:
