Transport Manager (with a company car)

Function

As transport manager You will be responsible for developing, implementing and monitoring the strategic and operational transport policy within the organisation. You will play an active role in further developing and improving the transport strategy and help ensure a sustainable, safe and cost-effective transport organisation that is aligned with the company’s objectives and customers’ expectations.

Your responsibilities include:

• To contribute to the development and implementation of the transport strategy, in line with the organisation’s overall objectives;
• Optimising transport flows, network structures, capacity planning and route management for primary, secondary and tertiary transport;
• Supporting day-to-day transport operations, including handling complaints, optimising routes and following up on specific customer enquiries;
• Drawing up, managing and analysing transport budgets and financial performance indicators;
• Maintaining long-term partnerships with transport partners, including contract negotiations and the coordination of RFP processes;
• To ensure that all transport operations comply with applicable legislation, safety regulations and sustainability requirements;
• Monitoring and improving transport KPIs such as delivery reliability, cost control and sustainability targets;

You will be based at the head office in Brussels and will maintain close contact with internal stakeholders and various departments within the organisation in order to achieve shared objectives.

Profile

For this challenging role as transport manager We are looking for an experienced professional who has:

• At least 10 years’ relevant experience in a managerial role within the transport or logistics sector;
• An in-depth knowledge of transport legislation and guidelines within the Benelux;
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills in Dutch and French, complemented by a good knowledge of English;
• Strong digital skills and experience with transport management systems. Knowledge of SAP is an advantage; a very good command of MS Excel is essential;
• A pragmatic and solution-focused approach, in which you take the initiative, assume responsibility and monitor deadlines;
• The flexibility to travel regularly to various distribution sites in Belgium and to carry out occasional night-time visits (Mollem, Lokeren, Paal-Beringen, Jumet, Wommelgem and Roeselare);

In addition, you have the ability to manage change in a positive and structured manner and to successfully put strategic objectives into practice within a dynamic organisation.
