Function

As Permanent Night Shift Team Leader at Lokeren, Belgium You are the driving force behind a smoothly running night shift. You lead a team, keep a tight rein on the schedule and ensure that every consignment, every task and every time slot fit together seamlessly.

You combine coaching with operational decisiveness, keeping your foot on the ground whilst keeping a close eye on the figures. You monitor the quality of the logistics flow, make adjustments where necessary, and ensure that the night shift can work with focus and energy in an environment where timing is not a mere detail, but the key factor.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • you will guide, motivate and develop the team during the night shift;
  • You provide clear instructions and closely monitor productivity, staffing levels and progress;
  • You organise the allocation of work taking into account holidays, absences, priorities and workload;
  • You will be responsible for the onboarding and training of new staff, agency workers and students;
  • you step in to resolve operational issues and make decisions with a focus on continuity and quality;
  • you liaise with fellow team leaders, management, recruitment agencies and relevant internal partners;
  • you monitor the logistics flow, follow up on reports and contribute ideas for improvements;
  • you will ensure compliance with safety, quality and HR procedures;
  • You will provide support where necessary with operational adjustments, maintenance and escalations to the technical department.

Profile

For this role, we are looking for an experienced people manager with 3 to 5 years’ relevant experience, preferably in a logistics or operations environment. You are comfortable working night shifts and enjoy bringing structure to a dynamic environment where things are constantly changing and quick decisions are required.

Ideally, you will have the following strengths:

  • extensive experience in people management, coaching and team supervision;
  • experience in a logistics, manufacturing or operational context;
  • good organisational skills and a strong sense of priorities;
  • resilience, flexibility and the courage to make decisions;
  • a clear communication style, both verbally and in writing;
  • team spirit combined with sufficient assertiveness and natural leadership;
  • be able to work independently whilst collaborating effectively with various stakeholders;
  • a good knowledge of Dutch; knowledge of French would be an advantage;
  • a good knowledge of Microsoft Office;
  • Knowledge of SAP is a definite plus;
  • You are willing to work fixed night shifts, on a flexible rota.

Organisation

Company information: This is a national player in the logistics sector, specialising in the coordination and distribution of time-sensitive deliveries. The organisation is responsible for the end-to-end management of a specific distribution flow, organising and monitoring daily deliveries via a network of external transport partners.

The activities include, amongst other things, operational planning, quality monitoring, data analysis and performance management. There is a strong focus on reliability, tight schedules (often involving night-time operations) and the continuous optimisation of logistics processes within a complex network of partners.

Offer

You will be taking up a full-time role on a permanent contract, with a work pattern tailored to fixed night shifts. In addition, you will be paid in accordance with PC 200, class D, taking into account your experience, and you will receive a night-time allowance for work carried out between 8.00 pm and 6.00 am.
