Tax Consultant

Function

• You prepare and follow up on corporation tax returns, identify tax issues and discuss them with colleagues and clients;

• You analyse Belgian and international tax issues and translate your findings into practical advice, where necessary in collaboration with HLB colleagues abroad;

• You will assist clients during tax audits, from responding to requests for information to developing and substantiating their tax position;

• You will assist with the incorporation of companies and branch offices, as well as mergers, wound-ups and liquidations: from tax analysis through to practical implementation;

• You will support clients with Pillar 2 and transfer pricing compliance. VAT, personal income tax and tax returns relating to international employment may also be covered. You will be given responsibility for your own cases, with experienced colleagues on hand to offer advice;

Profile

• You have at least three years’ relevant experience in Belgian corporation tax;
• You have an interest in international taxation and wish to develop your skills further within a broad-based practice;
• You work analytically and meticulously, but also pragmatically: you translate technical knowledge into workable solutions, take responsibility and ensure deadlines are met;
• You communicate fluently in Dutch and have a good working knowledge of English. Knowledge of French is an advantage;
• You take the initiative, contribute critical thinking to our working methods and are open to the judicious use of AI and other digital tools;
• You don’t need to be an expert in every area mentioned. They consider a strong grounding in tax, a willingness to learn and the drive to make practical progress on cases to be more important;

Organisation

Our client, based in Berchem, specialises in audit, accountancy, tax and legal advice. We are part of the

the international HLB network and the PIA Group in Belgium. In this way, we combine our local character with international collaboration and the technological support of a larger group.

Our tax team acts as the point of contact for our own clients, audit and accountancy colleagues, other firms and overseas offices. Their expertise is regularly called upon, particularly in cases with an international element. As a result, you will work directly with businesses and support fellow advisers with their clients’ tax enquiries.
