Overseas Site Manager
Function
As Overseas Site Manager You will take charge of the day-to-day management of technically challenging projects in civil engineering, hydraulic engineering and foundation works for our client. You will be involved in large-scale construction sites in port and industrial environments, both abroad and during domestic project phases. No two days are exactly the same: you’ll keep a cool head, ensure the site runs smoothly and keep the team working safely.
Your place of work during domestic assignments is mainly Kallo (Kieldrecht), East Flanders, Belgium, with the possibility of being based at the hub in Berchem. Overseas assignments do not follow a fixed rotation: you may spend some time abroad and then work for a few weeks on a domestic site or from the Belgian organisation. During domestic weeks, there is a flexible policy of two days of working from home per week.
- You will coordinate and monitor construction sites.
- You will manage workers and subcontractors and ensure that everyone works together smoothly on site.
- You will be responsible for safety, quality, planning, budget and progress.
- You will be responsible for organising materials, orders, site set-up and the daily allocation of tasks.
- You will be responsible for the technical and administrative management of the project.
- You identify bottlenecks in good time and turn them into practical solutions.
- You will report clearly to the project manager and keep all parties involved well informed.
Profile
This role is ideal for a recent architecture graduate who is keen to take on responsibility quickly and wants to learn the trade not only from behind a desk, but also by working amongst people, machinery and materials. Some initial experience gained through work placements, student work, a traineeship or a previous job would be an advantage. Candidates with approximately 2 to 5 years’ experience in construction or industry are also welcome. Experience in civil engineering, hydraulic engineering or foundation works is an advantage, but not an absolute requirement if you have the right technical background and motivation.
- You hold a bachelor’s or master’s degree in architecture, civil engineering or a similar subject.
- You are interested in major infrastructure, port and industrial projects.
- You speak Dutch fluently and can manage professionally in English.
- You are willing to work abroad on a temporary basis without a fixed rotation.
- You work with precision, can cope well under pressure and are not afraid to make decisions on site.
- You combine a hands-on approach with a keen eye for administration, planning and reporting.
- You get a real buzz from teamwork, coaching and coordinating various parties at the same time.
- During domestic periods, you can travel to Kallo (Kieldrecht) and/or Berchem.
