Senior Mechanical Designer
Function
Are you an experienced Mechanical Designer looking to join a leading engineering firm in the textile industry? You will work on challenging international projects where you can fully utilise your technical expertise.
- You will be responsible for the entire process, from the concept phase through to the delivery of production-ready machines, during which you will literally see them come to life on our shop floor.
- You design smart, creative and cost-effective concepts, taking into account design for manufacturability (DFM) and design for assembly (DFA).
- You will mentor and support a team of junior and mid-level engineers, whilst acting as the R&D manager’s right-hand person in the field of mechanical engineering.
- You will carry out strength calculations, draw up technical documentation and contribute ideas on how to improve existing machines and design new solutions.
- You will work closely with colleagues in electronics, automation and software, and will occasionally monitor installations and after-sales support for customers worldwide.
Profile
We are looking for an energetic and solution-oriented Senior Mechanical Designer who thrives on responsibility and complex projects in an international environment. You bring the right mix of experience, knowledge and personality to enrich the team.
- A master’s degree in industrial engineering or civil engineering (or equivalent through experience), with at least eight years’ experience in the design of industrial machinery.
- Technical expertise combined with a hands-on approach and organisational acumen.
- Experience with 3D CAD (experience with Creo Parametric is an advantage) and PDM/PLM systems (experience with Windchill is an advantage).
- Knowledge of drive technologies such as bearings, linear actuators, transmissions, pneumatics and motors.
- Familiarity with strength calculations, FEA, machinery directives and risk analysis (EN ISO 12100, EN ISO 13849).
- A basic understanding of electricity and automation, and knowledge of materials and production methods.
- Excellent communication skills in Dutch and English.
- Problem-solving skills and a positive, no-nonsense personality.
- Willingness to travel occasionally to clients worldwide.
