Production supervisor
Function
As Production Supervisor, you will have overall responsibility for two departments: (parts production & paint shop). Two fully automated powder coating lines with power-and-free chain systems.
Together with three coordinators, you will manage a team of around 50 staff and oversee the entire production chain within your departments.
50% People Management
- Visibly present amongst the people.
- Coaches and supports coordinators and staff.
- Oversees staff planning and the allocation of tasks.
- Develops staff through training and development plans.
- Ensures the transfer of knowledge and continuity within the teams.
- Makes safety and quality an integral part of day-to-day operations.
- Builds support and is able to get staff on board with change.
30% Planning & day-to-day monitoring
- Monitors the production schedule closely.
- Monitors capacity, staff deployment and delivery reliability.
- Ensures that priorities are correctly aligned between production, planning and other departments.
- Take prompt action when any anomalies or bottlenecks arise.
20% Process Optimisation
- Actively works to improve efficiency, quality and productivity.
- Embedds standardisation and process discipline on the shop floor.
- Implements improvement projects in collaboration with the engineering and planning departments.
Profile
- A strong, coaching-based and people-centred leadership style.
- Proven experience in the manufacturing industry (discrete manufacturing).
- Experience in a managerial role with larger teams.
- Technically proficient enough to liaise with engineering and maintenance teams.
- An interest in digitalisation and IT projects.
- A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent through experience.
- Experience with lean methodologies (5S, Six Sigma, QRM) and OEE monitoring is an advantage.
- Dutch as the working language; English is an advantage.
Organisation
The organisation is a medium-sized industrial company with extensive expertise in the production of high-quality bespoke products. Thanks to a modern and highly automated machine park, we manage a large part of the production process in-house.
Over the coming years, they will face a number of significant transformations. To successfully implement these changes, we are looking for a manager who can inspire people, guide change and embed new ways of working on a long-term basis.
Key challenges for the coming years include:
- the shift from mass production to production in batch sizes of one;
- investment in new production technologies;
- the further optimisation and integration of production facilities;
- the implementation of an MES system and digital work instructions;
- further developing standardisation, process discipline and continuous improvement.
In this role, you will play a key part within the production organisation. You will ensure clear communication, build support for change and be able to get staff on board with new processes and working methods.
You combine people-centred leadership with a strong focus on operational excellence. In doing so, you ensure that improvements are not only introduced but also become an integral part of day-to-day operations.
