Process Safety Engineer
Function
You will be joining a growing multidisciplinary engineering team that provides specialist services to the process and manufacturing industries. You will contribute to projects relating to, amongst other things, chemical process technology, process safety, functional safety, E&I, machine safety and high-risk utilities.
The projects are challenging and varied in nature. You will usually be working on several projects at the same time, alongside fellow engineers, CAD designers and experts from various disciplines. This will quickly give you a broad understanding of industrial processes and plenty of opportunities to further develop your technical knowledge.
Your clients operate in sectors including the (petro)chemical industry, the Seveso industry, the food sector, the pharmaceutical sector and the metallurgical sector. These are often industrial environments where safety, reliability and high-quality engineering are essential.
What will you do?
Your responsibilities will include, amongst other things:
- Analysing, improving and making chemical and industrial processes safer;
- The design or redesign of processes with a view to inherent safety;
- Carrying out calculations relating to, amongst other things, process control, reactors, pumps, and energy and mass balances;
- Analysing process risks and carrying out studies such as HAZOP and LOPA;
- Working with specialist software for, amongst other things, ATEX, dynamic fluid modelling, safety valve calculations and SIF verification;
- Interpreting and drawing up PFDs and P&IDs, and providing technical guidance to CAD designers;
- Working alongside automation experts on BPCS, SIS, SIF and SIL;
- Working with colleagues and experts from various disciplines to make processes more efficient and safer;
- Contributing ideas on technical solutions and helping to coordinate projects;
- Ensuring the quality of your engineering work, with support from experienced colleagues and a structured project approach.
Profile
You are someone who enjoys analysing, learning new things and tackling technical challenges. You work meticulously and in a structured manner, and find it fascinating to get to the bottom of complex industrial issues.
- Do you hold a master’s degree (BEng/MEng/PhD) in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering or a similar discipline;
- Do you already have some initial professional experience in process safety;
- Are you analytical, keen to learn, meticulous and organised;
- Do you communicate easily and enjoy working with others;
- Are you interested in project coordination and keen to develop your skills in this area;
- Do you enjoy working with experts from various technical disciplines;
- Do you speak and write Dutch to at least B2 level?;
- Are you keen to help shape the further development of a team in the Kempen?.
