Operations Manager

Function

For our client in Tongres We are looking for an Operations Manager who will also be in charge of the office Inden (Germany, 2 days a week) will take on. In this role, you are responsible for the day-to-day management, follow-up, and optimisation of transport operations from Tongeren. In this key role, you oversee planning, manage drivers and operational processes, and ensure smooth, cost-conscious, and compliant execution of routes. You combine operational decisiveness with strong administrative and coordinating support.

Your responsibilities:

• Real-time monitoring of lorries and transport assignments, with timely adjustments in the event of delays, deviations, or issues.
• Optimising planning, vehicle utilisation, driver deployment, and the number of empty kilometres.
• First point of contact for drivers and clients, with clear communication regarding changes or unexpected situations.
• Ensuring compliance with driving and rest times, social legislation, and other legal obligations.
• Following up on incidents, complaints, technical issues, and fleet management, supplemented by administrative support and process improvements.

Profile

For the position of Operations Manager for our client to Tongeren & Inden (Germany) we are looking for an experienced professional with a strong background in transport, planning, and operational management.

Your profile:

• At least 10 years of experience in transport, operations, planning, or a similar coordinating role.
• In-depth knowledge of transport planning, international transport processes, driving and rest times, and route optimisation.
• Experience with operational follow-up, problem-solving and making decisions under pressure
• Familiarity with tools such as TAS, Transics and MS Office.
• A cost-conscious and solution-oriented approach, with the confidence to take initiative and improve processes.

Experience in a managerial or team-coordinating role is a strong asset. You combine operational maturity with a hands-on approach and are keen to help build a stable and high-performing operation in Tongeren.
