Transport planner

Function

For our client in Tongres We are looking for a Transport Planner. In this role, you organise national and international import and export runs from Tongeren, with a focus on efficient planning, correct execution and profitable deployment of the fleet.

Your key responsibilities:

• You translate transport assignments into a feasible run schedule, seeking out suitable routes, combinations and solutions with the highest possible load factor.
• The daily coordination with drivers, clients, loading and unloading points ensures that every run can depart smoothly and is followed up.
• You closely monitor driving and rest times, legal requirements and practical feasibility, ensuring that the planning remains safe and compliant with regulations.
• When an assignment changes or an unexpected situation arises, you keep an overview and quickly adjust with a clear solution.
• You maintain commercial contacts regarding the buying and selling of runs and, as a transport coordinator, contribute to a strong occupancy rate and reliable service delivery.
• In a structured, people-oriented transport environment, you work closely with colleagues, drivers and clients. This gives you responsibility for the entire planning process and allows you to see the direct results of your decisions.

Profile

For the role of Transport planner at our client’s premises in Tongres we are looking for a candidate with 3 to 5 years of experience in transport planning or a comparable logistics role. A bachelor's degree in transport, logistics or equivalent practical experience provides a solid foundation.

Your profile:

• Driving and rest times, transport documents and the geographical logic of the Benelux and Germany are familiar territory to you.
• You communicate fluently in Dutch and can hold your own professionally in German. A basic knowledge of French and English is valuable in international dealings.
• Experience with TAS, Transics, Transporeon or comparable transport systems is an advantage. You are also proficient in MS Office and quickly get to grips with new digital tools.
• You plan meticulously, remain calm when schedules come under pressure and communicate clearly. That combination helps you, as a transport coordinator, to build trust with drivers, clients and colleagues.

Our client is a family-run transport company specialising in transporting and stocking goods. This both nationally and internationally.

Offer

For the position of Transport planner offers our client in Tongres the following package:

• A gross salary based on experience between €2,700 and €4,000.
• Meal vouchers of €7 per day worked.
• A full-time contract within a 37-hour working week.
