Prevention consultant Level 1

Location: Harelbeke, West Flanders, Belgium Specialisation: Engineering Salary: € 3.500 - € 4.500 gross / month Contracttype: Job option fixed Hours: 40 hrs/week Work ritme: Day

Function

  • You will be responsible for developing, implementing and monitoring the global prevention and wellbeing policy.
  • You will draw up the overall prevention plan and the annual action plan and closely monitor their implementation.
  • You will translate the organisation’s strategic objectives into a concrete and forward-looking security policy.
  • You advise the board and management on strategic decisions relating to safety, wellbeing and prevention.
  • You will ensure that the health and safety policy is applied consistently across the various construction sites and workshops.
  • You will initiate and validate risk assessments and follow up on the proposed preventative measures.
  • You will investigate workplace accidents and ensure that the necessary actions are properly followed up.
  • You will supervise and follow up on audits and inspections.
  • You ensure compliance with relevant health and safety legislation and management systems.
  • You will monitor compliance with, amongst other things, the VCA and other relevant standards and requirements.
  • You will coordinate collaboration with internal and external stakeholders on prevention and wellbeing.
  • You will play an active role in strengthening the safety culture within the organisation.
  • You organise and support training courses, awareness-raising campaigns and communications relating to safety.
  • You will monitor relevant environmental issues and contribute to sustainability initiatives.
  • You will take on an advisory and coaching role in relation to managers and staff.
  • You combine a bird’s-eye view with a keen understanding of the day-to-day realities on the shop floor.

Profile

  • You have a bachelor's or master's degree in a technical field.
  • You hold the Level 1 Health and Safety Advisor certificate.
  • You have at least 5 to 8 years’ relevant experience, preferably within the construction sector or a similar technical environment.
  • You have a thorough knowledge of health and safety legislation.
  • You have experience with safety and management systems, including VCA.
  • You have experience of risk assessments, audits, inspections and investigations into workplace accidents.
  • You have proven experience in a managerial or coordinating role.
  • You have strong analytical skills and can translate complex safety issues into practical solutions.
  • You have excellent communication skills and can communicate easily with both senior management and staff on the shop floor.
  • You are decisive and not afraid to take on responsibility.
  • You have a hands-on approach, but you always keep the bigger picture in mind.
  • You are proactive and think ahead.
  • You are highly persuasive and know how to get people on board with change.
  • You are committed to creating a sustainable and positive safety culture.
