As an insurance adviser, you combine customer contact with commercial responsibility.
- You will actively seek out new clients and commercial opportunities.
- You will further develop existing customer relationships.
- You will assess the insurance needs of private individuals and businesses.
- You will be responsible for the development and monitoring of insurance solutions.
- You will assist customers with their insurance enquiries and seek solutions that are tailored to their circumstances.
- You will follow up on quotations and commercial files.
- You’ll handle the necessary administrative tasks, although administration won’t make up the bulk of your job.
- You identify opportunities with clients and take the initiative to follow them up.
- You will work alongside the team to manage and follow up with clients.
The firm still has scope today to adopt a more commercial approach and step up its prospecting efforts. This therefore presents a clear opportunity for someone who likes to take the initiative and deliver results.
You will be targeting private individuals and businesses with up to around 100 employees. Although much of the work today still takes place within the firm’s traditional sectors, as a business-focused professional you will certainly be given the opportunity to explore new markets and client groups as well.

For this role, we are primarily looking for a commercially-minded person with drive. You do not necessarily need to have a background in the insurance industry.
- You have a commercial mindset and get a real buzz from customer contact and prospecting.
- You’re not afraid to take the initiative and find it easy to approach potential customers.
- You are results-oriented and understand that commercial performance is important in this role.

- A commercial background in, for example, the automotive sector could also be of interest.
- You’re not the sort of person who’s primarily looking for an administrative role.

- You have the necessary acumen and ambition to effectively capitalise on commercial opportunities.
Organisation
You will be joining a small insurance agency in the Damme-Sijsele area, with a team of around five staff members. The agency specialises in insurance for private individuals and businesses and handles both new business and claims.
You will be working in a small-scale environment with short lines of communication. You will mainly be working alongside the team itself, as the office manager also has other responsibilities and is not constantly present in the office.
The office is part of a larger organisation and can therefore count on support from head office. New staff members also receive a comprehensive induction programme to familiarise themselves thoroughly with the insurance products and how they work. This programme lasts for around twenty days, spread over a period of twelve months, and takes place in Ghent, amongst other locations.
