Electrical engineering calculator
Function
As an electrical engineering estimator, you will be responsible for the technical analysis, design and cost estimation of new electrical projects. You will act as a key link between the client, the technical development and the commercial management of projects.
Your duties will include:
- You prepare cost calculations and quotations based on the customer’s information and expectations.
- You analyse and interpret specifications, technical drawings and electrical diagrams.
- You determine the materials required and take into account assembly times, working hours and engineering costs.
- You will independently assess the technical, financial and contractual terms and conditions of tender documents.
- You translate the client’s requirements into a technically feasible and cost-effective design.
- You’ll contribute ideas on electrical installations, the choice of materials and alternative technical solutions.
- You advise clients on the most suitable design and the best approach.
- You combine technical knowledge with commercial acumen to draw up strong and competitive quotations.
- You will liaise directly with customers and follow up closely on their enquiries and expectations.
Thanks to your experience in the electrical engineering sector, you are able to quickly understand technical information and translate it into an accurate cost estimate.
Profile
For this role as a technical estimator in electrical engineering, we are looking for someone with:
- A bachelor’s or, preferably, a master’s degree in electrical engineering, electromechanics or a similar technical discipline.
- At least 5 years’ relevant work experience in the fields of electricity, electrical engineering or technical project environments.
- Strong conceptual and analytical thinking skills.
- A meticulous, punctual and results-oriented approach to work.
- An enterprising and inventive approach to finding solutions.
- A pragmatic and hands-on approach.
- Strong communication skills and a team-oriented attitude.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Empathy and sufficient business acumen to understand customers’ needs properly.
- The resilience needed to cope with projects that ultimately do not get sold.
You have strong technical skills, a solution-oriented mindset and enjoy translating complex information into a clear and feasible quotation.
