Function
As a Calculator & Cost Specialist, you are involved in the full financial journey of projects. You combine estimating, price justification, plan of approach, and post-calculation.
- You analyse specifications, bills of quantities, drawings and technical requirements, and translate these into an accurate and realistic cost price.
- Together with operational colleagues, you determine the method of execution and calculate the required deployment of personnel, machines, materials and subcontractors, taking into account yields, productivity and direct and indirect costs.
- You compare different execution scenarios, request quotes from suppliers where necessary and contribute to the development of calculation models and benchmarks for future projects.
- Together with project and site management, you develop a concrete plan of approach, covering aspects such as working methodology, planning, staffing, safety, quality and sustainability.
- When queries arise from clients, you provide a clear price justification. You substantiate the offered prices with the necessary calculations, yields and supporting documents.
- Upon completion of projects, you compare the original calculation with the actual costs. You analyse, amongst other things, hours worked, machine deployment, material consumption and overall profitability.
- You discuss significant deviations with the project managers and translate your findings into improved benchmarks and future calculations.
