B2B Renewable Energy Business Developer
Function
As a Business Developer in Renewable Energy, this person is responsible for identifying, developing and securing contracts for new energy projects. He or she manages opportunities from the initial commercial contact through to a well-founded investment decision and the signing of the contract.
This is not about selling a standard product. The challenge lies in translating customers’ energy requirements, infrastructure and ambitions into investment projects that are technically, financially and contractually viable.
Responsibilities
- Actively develops a high-quality pipeline of opportunities with industrial and logistics companies and other property owners through its own network, active prospecting, partnerships and market development.
- Analyses clients’ energy requirements and sustainability objectives and translates these into integrated project concepts, such as PV systems, battery storage, energy management and charging solutions.
- Prepares investment proposals, including CAPEX, OPEX and return on investment calculations, payback periods and sensitivity analyses, and assesses the feasibility of opportunities.
- Presents investment proposals to clients and internal decision-making bodies.
- Leads commercial negotiations, oversees projects through to contract signing and ensures a structured handover to the project and implementation team.
- Works closely with colleagues in Legal, Finance and Engineering, as well as with external partners.
- Monitors developments in the energy market, regulations and subsidy schemes, and translates these into new commercial opportunities.
- Reports directly to the General Manager.
- Combines commercial acumen with sufficient financial and substantive expertise to develop opportunities into investable projects.
Profile
- Has at least three years’ relevant experience in business development, project development or commercial project finance within the energy sector.
- Has proven experience in developing new B2B projects.
- Holds a bachelor’s or master’s degree and has a good knowledge of the energy sector.
- Is able to build, analyse and explain financial models independently, and understands the structure of investment projects.
- Has strong commercial acumen and is able to critically assess technical, financial and legal information.
- Is enterprising, proactive and creates new opportunities for themselves.
- An existing network within the Belgian or Dutch energy, property or industrial sectors represents significant added value.
- Communicates fluently in Dutch and English. Knowledge of French is an advantage.
Organisation
This organisation develops, finances and manages sustainable energy solutions for businesses and property owners. In doing so, it combines its experience as a project developer and long-term investor with the technical expertise of carefully selected partners.
The focus is not on selling individual systems, but on developing integrated and financially sustainable energy projects. These include solar energy, battery storage, smart energy management and charging infrastructure. The organisation funds the investments itself and builds long-term partnerships with its customers.
In order to further expand its activities outside its own property portfolio, the organisation is looking for an enterprising Business Developer in Renewable Energy.
Offer
- A key role within a growing organisation that develops and finances renewable energy projects, offering a high degree of autonomy and short decision-making lines.
- The opportunity not only to bring projects to market commercially, but also to help shape them in terms of content.
- Collaboration with experienced colleagues and specialist technical, legal and financial partners.
- An attractive salary package supplemented by a comprehensive package of fringe benefits, including a company car with a fuel card, 27 days’ leave, hospitalisation and group insurance, eco-vouchers, expense allowance, end-of-year bonus, mobile phone contract, laptop and performance-related variable remuneration.
- A modern and pleasant working environment, easily accessible and equipped with a wide range of facilities, including a weekly lunch, snacks, fresh fruit, nuts, soft drinks and an extensive selection of coffee.
