Function

For our client in Herentals We are looking for a Customs Declarant. In this role, you handle customs declarations for cross-border transport, with an emphasis on road transport and files involving other modes of transport as well.

Your responsibilities:

• You create files, complete them, and closely monitor every document. Because every shipment is different, you combine regulatory knowledge with a sharp eye for detail.
• For import and export transactions, you draw up clear file instructions so that documents are processed correctly and goods reach their destination without unnecessary delay.
• You detect irregularities, missing information, or customs-related risks in a timely manner and report them to the person responsible. In doing so, you help prevent errors, delays, and potential disputes.
• You maintain professional contact with customs authorities, respond to client queries, and provide practical advice on operational customs and transport matters.
• Depending on the file, you handle matters including objections, BTI applications, discharges, BFV declarations, excise duty declarations, and applications for licences or customs and VAT warehouses.
• You apply customs tariffs based on the nomenclature and handle correspondence relating to licences and dispute files, always within the applicable legal, fiscal, safety, and environmental frameworks.

Profile

For the position of Customs declarant at our client’s premises in Herentals we are looking for a candidate with approximately three to five years of experience as a customs declarant, customs declaration specialist, or administrative employee within a customs, forwarding, transport, or logistics environment.

Your profile:

• A sound knowledge of customs, transport, and VAT legislation forms the basis of your work. Experience with fiscal representation, licences, and customs warehousing is a strong advantage.
• Accuracy is important: you work with regulations, declarations, and deadlines where small errors can have a significant impact on clients and goods flows.
• You communicate fluently in Dutch and English, both written and spoken, to explain files clearly and maintain correct contact with clients and government agencies. Knowledge of French or German is an asset.
• You combine a customer-focused approach with sufficient assertiveness. You are not afraid to request missing information, state positions clearly, and at the same time seek a constructive solution.

Offer

For the position of Customs declarant offers our client in Herentals the following remuneration:

• Permanent contract with a gross monthly salary between €3,200 and €3,700.
