Building and Civil Engineering Procurement Officer
Function
As Building and Civil Engineering Procurement Officer you will play a central role in the procurement process for large-scale construction and infrastructure projects. Within this organisation, based in the region Mechelen, you will play a key role in managing procurement files from start to finish, whilst always keeping budget, planning and quality in mind. You will work closely with project managers, project engineers and suppliers. You will ensure that materials and services are delivered on time and correctly. Drawing on your expertise, you will help develop sustainable and innovative solutions, always driven by a results-oriented approach.
Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
- Drawing up and managing quotations and purchase orders, in accordance with the specifications, bills of quantities and plans.
- Seeking to optimise the choice of suppliers and products, with the aim of achieving the best value for money.
- Assessing and maintaining good relations with existing suppliers, whilst continuing to seek out new alternatives.
- Working with internal teams and external parties to successfully deliver projects.
- Monitoring and updating a structured procurement plan, tailored to various business activities.
Profile
They would be delighted to welcome an experienced professional with the following qualities:
- Minimum 5 to 10 years’ experience in a procurement role within the construction sector.
- Ideally, a construction-related qualification, with knowledge of materials and techniques being an advantage.
- Sharp insight and excellent communication skills that enable you to build trust within teams and with suppliers.
- A born negotiator, with the powers of persuasion and strategic insight to turn deals in your favour.
- Fluency in Dutch and French, Knowledge of English is an asset.
- The ability to work with attention to detail, without losing sight of the overarching objectives.
