Bank teller

Location: Borgloon, Limburg, Belgium Specialisation: Finance Salary: € 2.300 - € 4.000 bruto / month Contracttype: Indefinite time Hours: 37.5 h/week Work ritme: Day

Function

We are looking for a Front Office Assistant / Counter Clerk to join a close-knit, stable and growing bank branch in the Borgloon area.

The firm has an excellent reputation in the region and is characterised by an exceptionally stable team. Due to further growth and a number of upcoming retirements, they are looking for someone to join the team on a long-term basis.

You will be a key point of contact for customers who visit the office or contact us by phone. Your main focus will be on day-to-day banking and ensures that customers are assisted in a courteous, friendly and professional manner.

Specifically, you are responsible for:

  • welcoming customers and assisting them at the counter;
  • addressing queries regarding day-to-day banking;
  • handling telephone calls in a customer-focused manner;
  • recognising opportunities and referring customers to the right colleague;
  • provide support with administrative tasks;
  • provide support within the office where necessary;
  • help with practical tasks such as restocking the vending machine;
  • Keep in close contact with existing customers and arrange appointments with one of the advisers.

Cold calling is not required. You will mainly be working with existing clients and warm leads. There are no individual targets, but everyone contributes to the firm’s overall results.

There are two possible career paths for this role. Either you consciously opt for stability and feel comfortable in a long-term role as a counter clerk, or you have the ambition to eventually progress into the loans department.

Profile

We are looking for someone who enjoys working with people and is confident and self-assured. You are sociable, easy-going and not shy. Customers feel welcome around you, yet you know how to conduct yourself in a professional, courteous and discreet manner.

In addition, you recognise yourself in the following:

  • You should ideally have experience in banking, insurance or a similar customer-focused financial environment;
  • you hold your PCP certificates or are willing to obtain them;
  • you are reliable, a team player and customer-focused;
  • you spot commercial opportunities without being pushy;
  • you listen to customers and help come up with solutions;
  • You work with precision and are happy to take on responsibility;
  • Ideally, you will be working full-time.

Organisation

You will be working in a modern bank branch with ample parking and a strong reputation in the region.

The team is close-knit, experienced and exceptionally stable. Staff choose to stay here because of the people-focused approach, open communication and strong mutual support. New colleagues receive thorough guidance from senior staff and are given the opportunity to develop their skills through internal and external training courses.

There is no high-pressure sales culture or cut-throat mentality. Proactivity is certainly valued, but customer relationships, trust and quality are the main priorities.

Offer

You’ll be joining a close-knit team where everyone plays their part. The atmosphere is friendly and personal, with an annual team-building event and a get-together at the end of the year or to ring in the New Year.

  • Permanent contract on start-up
  • An attractive remuneration package comprising:
    • a gross monthly salary based on experience;
    • meal vouchers;
    • CAO 90 bonus, with a track record of strong bonus results;
    • company car (depending on your background);
    • after 5 years’ service: 1 extra day’s leave;
  • Modern office with ample parking;
  • A close-knit and stable team where staff tend to stay on;
  • Adequate support from experienced colleagues;
  • External training opportunities;
  • A friendly and open communication style;
  • Proactivity is certainly valued, but this is not a high-pressure sales environment or a results-driven culture. Customer relationships, trust and quality are our top priorities.
  • Potential to expand into lending in the future (an option, not a requirement).
