Bookkeeper

Function

As an accountant, you will be responsible for the day-to-day bookkeeping and financial monitoring of one or more entities. In doing so, you will work closely with management and external partners such as accountants, banks and auditors.

Your responsibilities will grow in line with your experience and ambitions:

• You will be responsible for entering and checking purchase and sales invoices.
• You will monitor payments, suppliers and outstanding items, both domestically and abroad.
• You will assist with VAT returns and periodic account closures.
• You will help with the preparation of monthly and annual accounts.
• You will check and analyse financial figures.
• You will gradually take on more responsibility within the closing processes.
• You will help with financial reporting and the consolidation of various entities.
• You prepare financial information for external bookkeepers, accountants and auditors.

In time, you will progress to a role in which you will take on greater autonomy and ultimate responsibility. You will then share responsibility for coordinating the group’s accounts and play an active role in further optimising the financial processes.

Profile

For this role, we are not looking for a candidate who already has all the necessary skills. Potential for growth and motivation are just as important as experience.

Ideally, you should have:

• A bachelor’s or master’s degree in bookkeeping, accountancy or finance, or an equivalent background gained through experience.
• Several years’ experience in an accounting role.
• A good basic understanding of BE GAAP; knowledge of IFRS would be an advantage.
• Experience of working with multiple entities or in an international context is an asset.
• A good knowledge of Excel.
• A good command of Dutch and English.

In addition, you are someone who works meticulously and in a structured manner, whilst at the same time being keen to get stuck in. You take responsibility, enjoy learning new things and are keen to take on more within the organisation in the long term. Discretion and reliability go without saying.
