Workshop manager

Function

Would you like to take charge of a small team and do you have a passion for technology? We are currently looking for a workshop manager to join the team at our garage in Affligem.

• In this role, you will be responsible for managing a team of around three staff members and will take the lead in planning and overseeing the work.
• You identify problems and oversee the various tasks.
• You’ll play an active part in carrying out repairs, create work orders using an online tool, and ensure the workshop remains tidy and organised. You’ll actively encourage your team to enter all details correctly into the online tool.
• In addition, you will liaise with the planning team to coordinate vehicle availability and take part in monthly meetings with workshop managers to contribute to strategic decisions.
• This role offers a dynamic mix of management, hands-on work and administrative tasks, involving the management of a fleet of around 120–130 buses, ranging from school buses to tourist coaches.
• You will be in charge of a team of around three staff members: you will oversee the work and coordinate the team’s activities.
• You will report directly to the CTO.

Profile

To be successful as a Workshop Manager, you will need the following:

• You have a bachelor's degree in a technical field or equivalent through experience.
• At least 3 to 5 years’ experience in a technical or similar role, preferably with large vehicles such as lorries or buses.
• Strong people skills to motivate and lead your team.
• Knowledge of both Dutch and French is a major asset, particularly when it comes to communicating with French-speaking drivers and staff. You will certainly have the opportunity to develop this further here.
• Proficient in using a computer to create work sheets and carry out other administrative tasks.
• Flexibility and a willingness to take part in a rota for evening and weekend on-call duties.
• An affinity for administrative tasks (30%) combined with hands-on work (70%).
