Transport manager
Function
As transport manager You will be responsible for 140 staff members spread across various sites. You will also be responsible for the following range of duties:
- You will have overall responsibility for the performance of the national transport sector (service, capacity, costs, safety and compliance);
- You will be responsible for making decisions regarding priorities, escalations and structural optimisations within the transport operations;
- You will ensure the efficient deployment of drivers, charter services, subcontractors, vehicles and available capacity;
- You will manage the planning and dispatch team leads and support their development, both as a team and as individuals;
- You will ensure smooth cooperation between planning, dispatch and the various sites;
- You will work closely with the transport director and internal stakeholders to tackle operational and structural challenges;
- You regularly visit the various sites to monitor operations at close quarters;
- You monitor KPIs and performance and translate these into concrete improvement actions;
- You analyse structural bottlenecks and implement sustainable solutions;
- You report on results, risks and actions, and support decision-making;
- You will be implementing a TMS system (not yet in place);
- You’ll get involved in Lean & Green projects and network.
Profile
The transport manager what we’re looking for:
- Possesses a bachelor’s or master’s level of thinking, supplemented by relevant experience in transport, logistics or an operational environment;
- Has a thorough understanding of transport processes, capacity management and operational control;
- Works in a results-oriented manner, takes responsibility and demonstrates ownership;
- Has experience in leading, coaching and developing operational teams;
- Is able to bring people together and motivate them towards shared goals;
- Communicates clearly, is not afraid to make decisions and is able to set priorities;
- Works well with various stakeholders and builds lasting relationships;
- Is professionally bilingual in Dutch and French;
- Is willing to travel regularly between different branches within Belgium.
