Technical Assistant (Spare Parts) / Warehouse Assistant

Location Zedelgem, West Flanders, Belgium Salary € 3.000 - € 3.800 gross / month Contract type Job option fixed Hours 40 hrs/week Work schedule Day Specialisation Engineering

Function

  • You are the first point of contact for customers who get in touch by phone or email to order a spare part.
  • You listen to the customer’s enquiry, ask the right questions and ensure that their needs are clear.
  • You process orders for spare parts and follow them up with suppliers.
  • You request quotes and draw up quotations.
  • You will liaise with suppliers in Dutch and English.
  • You will be in regular contact with French-speaking customers; a good knowledge of French is therefore important.
  • You don’t need to be fluent in technical French straight away: what’s most important is being able to communicate fluently and hold a conversation.
  • You will process incoming goods and check deliveries.
  • You will pack and prepare outgoing goods for dispatch.
  • You prepare spare parts and materials for the technicians.
  • You print labels and ensure that goods are correctly recorded and placed in the right location in the warehouse.
  • You will keep the warehouse well-organised and ensure that administrative procedures are followed correctly.
  • You will work closely with colleagues from the warehouse, the technical department and other internal departments.
  • You’ll be flexible in stepping in where needed and helping to ensure the warehouse runs smoothly on a day-to-day basis.

Profile

  • Ideally, you will have several years’ experience in a logistics or warehouse environment.
  • Your technical background is a huge asset.
  • You’re curious and ask questions spontaneously when you don’t know something.
  • You show an interest in products, machinery, spare parts and how the business operates.
  • You speak and write Dutch fluently.
  • You are able to express yourself well in French and are confident enough to engage in conversation with French-speaking customers.
  • A knowledge of English is important when communicating with suppliers.
  • You are customer-focused and have excellent communication skills.
  • You work accurately and in an organised way.
  • You have both an administrative and a practical mindset.
  • Experience of operating a forklift truck is an advantage, but not a requirement. If necessary, in-house training can be provided.
  • You are able to work independently, but also enjoy working alongside colleagues.
  • You’re flexible when the situation calls for it: even if a customer calls just before the end of the working day, you’ll still help them out.
  • Above all, you’re someone who’s keen to learn and takes the initiative.

Organisation

You will be joining a technical organisation with a strong focus on service, quality and customer focus. Within the company, you will work closely with various colleagues and departments, giving you a central role in day-to-day operations. There is a practical and collegial atmosphere in which initiative and commitment are valued. You will also be given the opportunity to further develop your technical knowledge and expertise.

Offer

  • A varied role combining administrative tasks, customer contact and hands-on warehouse work.
  • A fixed timetable within a working week from Monday to Friday.
  • A rota whereby you alternate between starting at 8.00 am or 8.30 am, so that the warehouse is always open from 8.00 am to 5.30 pm.
  • In-house training and supervision where necessary, including for the operation of forklift trucks.
  • A stable working environment with plenty of contact with colleagues, customers and suppliers.
  • A role in which you can develop your skills further within a technical environment.
