Surveyor

Function

A day as a surveyor in the Port of Antwerp never looks the same. What can you expect?

• You are responsible for sampling all kinds of petrochemical products
• You take these samples on land tanks, trucks, railcars and on board ships
• You deliver these samples to the laboratory
• You will do quantity measurements in addition to sampling for quality checks
• You report your findings
• You will coordinate loading and unloading operations of chemical loads over time

Profile

• You have a minimum secondary degree in preferably a scientific direction. A background in chemistry or shipping is a plus
• You have a passion for the port and chemical sector
• You have a good dose of common sense and analytical insight
• You have a great sense of responsibility
• You are someone who can work independently. You quickly feel comfortable in new surroundings and with new people
• You enjoy working in a full-time system, 11-hour shifts with weekend work
• You have a driving licence B
• You are highly communicative and dare to stand your ground where necessary. You have a good knowledge of Dutch and English
• A port screening will be done for this function.

Organisation

Our client is an established company in the port specialising in chemical cargo control. They are part of a listed group. The company has been experiencing solid growth for several years. The offices are located in the heart of the port and are not accessible by public transport.

For this vacancy, the place of employment is in Antwerp.

What can you count on in this vacancy?

The salary package for a starter in this position is very transparent:

• 3121.99 + 25 % shift allowance (first month daily hours)
• Of course, your seniority will be carried over if you already have experience and start at a higher salary.
• Meal vouchers : 9 euro (own contribution 1.09 euro)
• Clothes allowance : 10 euro/month
• Eco-vouchers: 250 euros/year

You will start with weekly contracts, with the intention of permanent employment afterwards. Group insurance will be added after the temporary period.

You also have a nice package of days off:

• 20 statutory leave days
• 10 public holidays (free to take)
• 3 days leave joint committee (4 days after 1 year of service) to be taken freely
• 52 Adv hours to be freely taken

Of course, not only pay and holidays are important. :

• You will start in a dynamic and close-knit team. In the company, the door of HR is also open if there should be any questions. Of course, you can also contact your job coach at CTRL-F.
• The company invests heavily in training. For the first month, you will work the day shift so that you can be fully trained internally. After that, you will continue to receive coaching from a fellow measurer or godfather.
• You will start as an assistant surveyor and then progress to surveyor. In this job, things are always changing so you keep learning and growing. If, after a period of time, you do feel the need for a new challenge, there are often opportunities to grow or move internally.
