Site Manager, Hydraulic Engineering & Foundations
Function
On behalf of our client, a specialist construction partner operating in the fields of civil engineering, hydraulic engineering and foundation works, we are looking for a Site Manager for challenging projects in and around Kallo (Kieldrecht), East Flanders. You will be responsible for the day-to-day management of construction sites in port and industrial environments and will ensure that work is carried out safely, to a high standard, efficiently and on schedule. You will work closely with the project manager, site workers, subcontractors, suppliers and other construction partners.
In this role, you will combine technical supervision with practical organisation and people management. You will maintain a visible presence on site, keep track of progress and intervene in good time should the schedule, quality, safety or availability of materials come under pressure.
- Co-ordinating and supervising civil engineering, hydraulic engineering and foundation works projects with a project value of approximately €5 to €20 million.
- Managing, supervising and motivating workers, teams and subcontractors.
- Ensuring compliance with safety regulations, quality standards and correct technical implementation.
- Monitoring the daily schedule, allocation of tasks, progress and staffing levels.
- Managing and ordering materials, equipment and other site supplies in good time.
- To check that the works are being carried out in accordance with the plans, technical specifications and agreements made.
- Handling the technical and administrative aspects of site supervision, including reporting and recording relevant data.
- Identifying risks, anomalies and bottlenecks, and working with the relevant parties to devise appropriate solutions.
- Report to the project manager and help ensure transparent communication between the site and the project team.
Profile
For this role, we are looking for an experienced and hands-on construction professional who is not afraid to take responsibility on site. You will hold a bachelor’s or master’s degree in civil engineering, or you will have progressed to a managerial role through relevant experience. A background in civil engineering, hydraulic engineering, foundation works or industrial projects is particularly valuable, but it is above all your technical insight, sense of responsibility and ability to organise people that make the difference.
- You have experience in the construction industry, civil engineering, hydraulic engineering, foundation engineering or a similar industrial environment.
- You hold a bachelor’s or master’s degree in architecture, or can demonstrate equivalent practical experience.
- You have experience in overseeing construction sites, coordinating operational teams and managing subcontractors.
- You understand technical plans, work instructions and construction details, and are able to translate these into an efficient site organisation.
- You speak Dutch fluently and can manage professionally in English.
- You work with precision, keep a clear overview and act decisively when circumstances change.
- You are a hands-on person, able to cope with stress, and willing to work regularly in a port or industrial environment.
- You attach great importance to working safely, delivering high-quality work and communicating clearly.
- You draw energy from teamwork, coaching and achieving tangible results with the various parties involved.
