Electronics Sales Engineer
Function
We are looking for a technically skilled candidate for our client Electronics Sales Engineer who acts as the link between the client, engineering and international manufacturing partners in Asia. In this role, you combine technical expertise with commercial acumen: you understand the client’s needs, translate challenges into viable solutions and oversee projects from initial enquiry through to delivery.
You will focus on a mix of electronic components and development and PCBA projects, with a clear emphasis on solution selling. You will work closely with the sales team, engineering and suppliers, and will be provided with leads internally. Pure prospecting is therefore not the main focus; rather, it is the detailed development, follow-up and closure of opportunities with clients seeking technical added value.
Your main responsibilities:
- You analyse customer enquiries and translate technical requirements into suitable solutions for, amongst other things, fans and blowers, connectors, magnetic components, power supplies, cables and PCBA processes.
- You will build long-term relationships with clients’ engineering and procurement teams and speak their technical language.
- You will draw up quotations and proposals in consultation with internal colleagues and suppliers, and explain their content to the client.
- You will oversee projects from quotation to delivery, whilst ensuring quality, timeliness and commercial viability.
- You will support customers throughout the sales and design cycle by providing technical advice and contributing creative ideas.
- You will liaise with international suppliers and help to oversee the technical and commercial development of projects.
- You keep a close eye on market developments and opportunities within the electronics sector and contribute ideas on how to drive further growth of the business.
Profile
For this role, we are looking for a professional with a strong technical background and sufficient commercial acumen to convince clients on the merits of the proposal. You are more of an engineer with a commercial flair than a traditional salesperson, and you feel at ease in discussions with technically knowledgeable stakeholders.
Your profile:
- Ideally, you will hold a bachelor’s or master’s degree in electronics, industrial sciences, engineering or a similar technical discipline.
- You have 3 to 5 years’ experience in a relevant technical context, for example in power electronics, PCBA, hardware development, electrical engineering, frequency engineering or telecommunications.
- You have a thorough understanding of technical issues and are able to translate them into concrete, commercially viable solutions.
- You speak fluently Dutch and English; knowledge of French is a definite plus.
- You excel at building relationships, communicating and guiding customers through a technical sales process.
- You work in an analytical, accurate and structured manner, whilst maintaining a good pace in your follow-up.
- You feel more at home in a role that involves a lot of consultation, coordination and project follow-up, rather than intensive prospecting.
