Project Manager for Civil Engineering and Buildings

Function

As Project Manager Buildings, you take responsibility for the realisation of one large site or several smaller construction projects. From Mechelen, you manage projects in the Antwerp–Brussels region and connect the client, architects, engineering offices, site management, procurement and work preparation. You are given the space to make independent decisions, develop solutions and deliver visible results within an organisation where craftsmanship and collaboration are central.

• Thoroughly analyse the construction file and translate the contractual and technical agreements into a feasible execution planning.
• Coordinate the day-to-day progress of the works and monitor quality, safety, timing and technical feasibility.
• Act as the central point of contact for the client, architects, engineering offices, site management and internal departments, ensuring information flows in a timely and clear manner.
• Organise and chair site meetings; record decisions and follow up on actions diligently until they are completed.
• Manage the execution budget, check progress statements and take corrective action when costs or planning come under pressure.
• Work together with purchasing and work preparation to organise materials, subcontractors and practical prerequisites in a timely manner.
• Oversee the provisional and final completion and ensure that outstanding items are resolved correctly.
• As a project manager, you motivate the teams involved, maintain oversight in complex situations and help to build high-quality, profitable projects that all partners can be proud of.

Profile

• A degree in construction and approximately 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in the execution or project management of construction projects give you the technical foundation to take on responsibility quickly.
• Experience with the coordination of larger sites, budget monitoring, planning and completion is important; knowledge of ISO and VCA procedures helps you to work in a structured and safe manner.
• Strong organisational and communication skills ensure that you can bring various parties into alignment and make clear agreements, even when interests diverge.
• You remain calm when planning, quality or budget come under pressure and make well-considered decisions without losing the overall picture.
• A collaborative, engaged attitude and natural leadership are essential to motivate skilled workers, encourage initiative and collectively achieve a high-quality end result. Knowledge of French and English is an advantage, not a requirement.
