Personal Banker

Function

As a Personal Banker (Business), you will become a trusted advisor to entrepreneurs and business leaders in the region. You will manage a client portfolio and continue to expand it by actively working alongside clients to find solutions.

Your duties will include:

• Managing and further expanding a client portfolio comprising the self-employed, members of the liberal professions and SMEs.
• Supporting customers with their banking and financial needs.
• Providing advice on matters including day-to-day banking, loans, insurance, pension provision and wealth accumulation.
• Providing guidance to business owners as their financial situation and assets continue to develop.
• Identifying commercial opportunities within the existing customer portfolio.
• Actively participate in customer engagements and regional business events.
• Working together with colleagues and other specialists within the firm to provide clients with the most comprehensive support possible.
• You’ll be working in a pair with an experienced colleague, which will enable you to quickly build up your knowledge of the business segment.
• Proactively approach clients and further develop existing opportunities within the portfolio.

What’s more, your client base is very diverse: ranging from a self-employed person just starting out to a business director with a substantial accumulated wealth. The firm deliberately avoids drawing a strict distinction between smaller and larger portfolios. Clients grow alongside the firm and your expertise.

Profile

We’re not looking for a typical 'lone wolf' for this role. You enjoy working as part of a team, sharing knowledge with colleagues and contributing ideas that take the bigger picture into account.

In addition, you recognise yourself in the following:

• You have a bachelor’s or master’s degree, or equivalent experience.
• You have experience in banking, preferably with corporate clients.
• Experience in providing loans to the self-employed and businesses is important.
• Experience in private investment is certainly an asset. After all, the move into the business sector often follows soon afterwards.
• You have a business-minded approach and are good at making new contacts.
• Long-term customer relationships give you energy.
• You work independently, but at the same time actively seek to collaborate with colleagues.
• You are a good communicator, sociable and able to cope well under pressure.
• Ideally, you live in the region and feel a sense of connection to the local business community.
• You’re ambitious and want to keep developing yourself.

So you don’t need to have spent years working as a personal banker. A strong grounding in banking, commercial drive and a desire to gain a deeper understanding of business banking carry more weight here.

Organisation

Our client is a well-established regional bank with six branches in Oudenaarde, Ronse, Waregem, Zulte, Kruishoutem and Nazareth, and a team of around 46 staff. The organisation combines the expertise and clout of a major bank with the entrepreneurial approach of a local SME.

The organisation has grown significantly in recent years and continues to invest. For example, there are plans for a new Private House in Oudenaarde, where various specialists from the region will work together.

Collaboration is central to the organisation. You do not work in isolation, but actively seek out the expertise of your colleagues. Furthermore, business clients are not viewed in isolation from their personal wealth. A self-employed person may evolve over the course of their career from a small-scale entrepreneur to a client with substantial wealth.
