Operations Manager (with a company car)

Function

  • You will have overall responsibility for the day-to-day coordination of the distribution of newspaper subscriptions at national level.
  • You will oversee the operational roll-out of new distribution regions and work closely with internal and external partners to achieve this.
  • You will provide operational input into the selection of transport providers and monitor budgets, quality and service.
  • You will manage a team of Regional Night Transport Coordinators and support staff and ensure the team operates efficiently.
  • You will manage the operational budget and closely monitor costs, performance and staffing levels.
  • You will monitor the quality of distribution, oversee operational processes and data quality, and ensure that everything is carried out correctly.
  • You analyse KPIs and reports and translate these into concrete improvement measures and process optimisations.
  • You will deal with operational issues and complaints, draw up preventative action plans and coordinate contingency plans where necessary.
  • You will coordinate audits and inspections and ensure that transport partners comply with the applicable quality and regulatory standards.
  • You will work closely with various internal departments and external stakeholders to ensure an efficient and customer-focused service.

Profile

  • You have at least 10 years’ experience in a senior operational role, preferably within the logistics or distribution sector.
  • You have extensive experience in managing and optimising end-to-end logistics processes.
  • You communicate fluently in Dutch and have a good command of French, both spoken and written.
  • You have strong analytical skills and know how to translate KPIs and reports into concrete improvement measures.
  • You combine results-oriented leadership with a coaching approach and know how to motivate and develop your team.
  • You always strike the right balance between quality, efficiency and budget.
  • You are pragmatic, solution-oriented and take the initiative to continuously improve processes and successfully implement those improvements.
  • You have strong communication and interpersonal skills and build long-term partnerships with internal and external partners.
  • You are resilient and able to keep a clear overview in a dynamic, ever-changing environment.
  • You have experience of managing decentralised teams and know how to engage with and support staff, including those working remotely.
  • You are flexible regarding working hours and location, and are willing to carry out regular night-time visits. Approximately 30% of your working time will be spent during night-time operational activities.

Organisation

This is a national player in the logistics sector, specialising in the coordination and distribution of time-sensitive deliveries. The organisation is responsible for the end-to-end management of a specific distribution flow, organising and monitoring daily deliveries via a network of external transport partners.

The activities include, amongst other things, operational planning, quality monitoring, data analysis and performance management. There is a strong focus on reliability, tight schedules (often involving night-time operations) and the continuous optimisation of logistics processes within a complex network of partners.
