Vacancy

Life insurance adviser

Location: Sijsele, West Flanders, Belgium Specialisation: Finance Salary: € 2.500 - € 4.000 gross / month Contracttype: Indefinite time Hours: 37.5 h/week Work ritme: Day

Function

You will be given a varied range of responsibilities combining client advice, insurance and commercial follow-up.

Your responsibilities will include, amongst other things:

  • You advise clients on life insurance and assess their personal or professional circumstances.
  • You will actively seek out opportunities within the existing client portfolio.
  • You will contact self-employed people and customers to discuss their insurance arrangements on a regular basis.
  • You will schedule appointments and work with the client to identify any additional needs.
  • You identify commercial opportunities and turn them into concrete actions.
  • You will assist customers with their insurance enquiries and monitor cases closely.
  • To begin with, you’ll help us familiarise ourselves with the various insurance products and working methods.
  • As well as providing advice, your role will also involve some administrative work and monitoring cases.
  • You’ll mainly be working from the office. A large proportion of clients come in person, so you’ll have a lot of direct contact with them.
  • You will help to consider how the succession planning for the self-employed and clients can be approached in a more systematic way.
  • Are you keenly interested in life insurance regulations? If so, there will be opportunities in the long term to explore this area in greater depth and take on responsibility in this field.

In this role, you won’t simply be handed an existing portfolio. You’ll be expected to identify opportunities yourself, contact clients and contribute ideas on how to further grow our services.

Profile

Experience in the insurance sector is an advantage, but not an absolute requirement. A bright school leaver with the right attitude may also be considered.

More important than the number of years’ experience is that you:

  • You are interested in insurance and are willing to learn independently.
  • You have a commercial mindset and thrive on customer contact.
  • Is not looking solely for an administrative role.
  • Take the initiative yourself rather than waiting for someone to tell you what to do.
  • Quickly picks up on opportunities with clients.
  • Can work independently and is not afraid to take on responsibility.
  • Communicates fluently and clearly in Dutch.
  • You are intelligent and curious, and you enjoy understanding why certain things happen in a particular way.
  • You’d like to develop your skills further in the insurance sector.
  • Approaches customers in a professional and personalised manner.

So you don’t need to come in with all the knowledge already. However, we do expect you to have enough curiosity and independence to build on that knowledge yourself.

Organisation

You will be joining a family-run insurance firm where personal relationships and trust are key. The firm serves private individuals, the self-employed and businesses alike, with a clear focus on BOAR insurance at present.

The next step is to further expand the life insurance segment. There are still plenty of opportunities within the existing portfolio, including amongst the self-employed and SMEs. At present, this follow-up is not carried out in a consistently structured manner across the board. You will have the opportunity to change that.

The team consists of various colleagues, each with their own area of expertise in production, claims and commercial follow-up. New staff members aren’t simply thrown in at the deep end: clear induction programmes are currently being developed to provide better support for new colleagues. At the same time, it is an environment where independence is valued. Those who work hard and take on responsibility are also placed in a position of trust.

Offer

  • A 37.5-hour-a-week role.
  • Full-time employment is preferred.
  • 20 days’ leave, supplemented by bank holidays.
  • An attractive remuneration package, tailored to your experience and profile.
  • Meal vouchers.
  • Hospitalisation insurance with dental cover included.
  • A net payment.
  • Mobile phone and contract.
  • Laptop.
  • A family-like working environment with short lines of communication.
  • A great deal of independence and trust.
  • An opportunity to further develop your commercial and technical expertise in the insurance sector.
  • Regular team activities, such as dinners, card evenings and group outings.
  • Annual focus on team development, including through joint activities and workshops.
