Function

As Lead Mechanical Engineer | Data Centres, you will take technical charge of the mechanical engineering aspects of complex data centre projects. You will oversee the design process from the concept phase through to detailed engineering, ensuring that quality, technical feasibility and the various engineering disciplines are perfectly aligned.

• You will lead and coordinate the mechanical engineering aspects of data centre projects

• You will carry out the technical development of the mechanical design, from the concept phase through to the detailed design

• You will monitor the technical quality and feasibility of the designed installations

• You ensure that designs comply with relevant standards, guidelines and the client’s technical requirements

• You coordinate mechanical engineering with other disciplines such as electrical engineering, architecture and structural engineering

• You will coordinate design activities between Belgian and international engineering teams

• You will review and assess technical designs and calculations produced by other engineers

• You will be the technical point of contact for mechanical issues for the project team, clients and external parties

• You will mentor other engineers and actively contribute to knowledge-sharing within the team

• You will contribute ideas on technical optimisations, innovative solutions and digitalisation within the design process

• You will remain involved throughout the implementation phase and help bridge the gap between engineering and implementation

Profile

For the role of Lead Mechanical Engineer | Data Centres, we are looking for an experienced Mechanical Engineer with a strong technical background who has sufficient expertise to assess designs and provide substantive guidance to other engineers. Experience in data centres is desirable, but experience in other technically complex buildings may also be relevant.

• You hold a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electromechanics or a similar technical discipline

• You have several years’ relevant experience as a Mechanical Engineer

• You have experience in the technical management and coordination of mechanical engineering and design activities

• You have a good knowledge of mechanical engineering systems

• You are familiar with the relevant standards and guidelines within the construction and installations sector

• Experience working in data centres, mission-critical facilities or other technically complex buildings is a major asset

• You are able to critically assess technical designs and calculations

• You work well with other technical disciplines, clients and external parties

• You are able to provide technical guidance to other engineers and pass on your knowledge

• You speak English fluently

• A good command of Dutch is essential

• Knowledge of French is an advantage

Organisation

As a Lead Mechanical Engineer | Data Centres, you will be joining an international engineering and consultancy firm that supports companies in the design and implementation of technically complex projects.

In this role, the focus is on data centres. These are technically demanding environments in which various technical systems and disciplines must be closely coordinated, and where reliability and continuity play a key role.

You will be part of a Belgian engineering department that is being further expanded to focus on data centre projects. Based in Belgium, you will work closely with international engineering teams on projects for both national and international clients.

You will be working in a multidisciplinary environment that brings together fields such as mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, architecture and structural engineering. This will give you a broad technical remit and mean you are involved in projects both during the design phase and as they move towards implementation.

• Gross salary between €5,000 and €7,200 per month
