Import Road Freight Forwarder

Function

As Import Road Freight Forwarder at Machelen You will be responsible for the overall coordination of import consignments by road. You will monitor consignments from start to finish, maintain close contact with customers, hauliers, suppliers, customs and other relevant parties, and ensure that every consignment is processed correctly, on time and in accordance with the applicable regulations.

Your duties will include:

• monitoring and organising import road consignments from planning through to delivery;
• retrieving, checking and processing transport and customs documents;
• coordinating with customers regarding status updates, exceptions and solutions;
• monitoring deadlines, transit and arrival times, and ensuring administrative accuracy;
• identifying and proactively resolving operational problems and deviations;
• ensuring accurate invoicing and the proper closure of files;
• working alongside internal colleagues in operations, customer service and compliance.

You will be working in an environment where accuracy, a customer-focused approach and a structured way of working are key. You will also actively contribute ideas to ensure an efficient workflow and help deliver a professional and personalised service.

Profile

For this role, we are looking for a freight forwarder with some to substantial relevant experience in imports, road freight or logistics administration. You have a good understanding of transport processes and are familiar with monitoring cases in an operational environment. Experience of 3 to 5 years is desirable.

Your profile:

• you have a relevant qualification or equivalent experience in logistics, freight forwarding or transport;
• you have knowledge of import procedures, transport documents and the basics of customs clearance;
• You work accurately and in a structured manner, and maintain a clear overview, even when priorities change;
• You communicate fluently in Dutch and have a good knowledge of English; knowledge of Turkish is a major asset;
• you are customer-focused and know how to deal professionally with enquiries, issues and deadlines;
• you have strong administrative skills and are confident using digital systems and MS Office;
• You take responsibility, think in terms of solutions and enjoy working as part of a team.
