Head of the Health, Safety and Environment Department
Function
- Developing, implementing and monitoring health, safety and environmental (HSE) policy.
- Translating legislation and regulations into practical and workable procedures.
- To proactively advise and support colleagues on health, safety and the environment.
- Regularly visiting construction sites to identify risks and monitor improvement measures.
- Coaching project and site managers on working safely and promoting safety awareness.
- Organising and following up on risk assessments, toolbox meetings, audits and incident investigations.
- Ensure that inspections of equipment and machinery are carried out correctly.
- Reporting on HSE performance and initiating improvement measures.
- Organising campaigns and training programmes on health and safety.
- Managing, supervising and coaching the HSE team.
- Working with senior management, internal departments, suppliers and external partners.
Profile
- You have completed a relevant bachelor’s or master’s degree.
- You have at least 3 years’ experience in health, safety and the environment, preferably in a technical, industrial or construction-related setting.
- You have experience on construction sites and feel at home in an operational environment.
- You combine a strategic vision with a pragmatic, hands-on approach.
- You are a strong communicator and know how to persuade and motivate people.
- You work independently, take the initiative and are not afraid to make decisions.
- You hold a Level II Prevention Adviser certificate and are willing to progress to Level I.
- Knowledge of VCA is an advantage.
