Business Development Manager
Function
As a Business Development Manager, you play a key role in attracting new clients and developing commercial opportunities within the energy solutions market. You combine prospecting, relationship-building and strategic insight to achieve sustainable growth.
In this role, you will be actively identifying new market opportunities and translating customer needs into concrete, well-thought-out solutions. You will work closely with in-house technical experts to provide expert advice to prospects and customers and to develop compelling proposals.
Your main responsibilities will include:
- developing and implementing a business development strategy aimed at growth;
- actively seeking out new clients by telephone, email, networking events, trade fairs and face-to-face visits;
- building and managing a strong sales pipeline;
- identifying customer needs and translating them into suitable energy solutions;
- building lasting relationships with decision-makers within B2B organisations;
- working with in-house technical experts to provide customers with the best possible advice;
- drafting, presenting and negotiating commercial proposals;
- entering into new partnerships and contracts;
- identifying market trends, competitors’ activities and new business opportunities;
- report to the Sales Manager.
In addition, you will be based at the head office in Genk on a weekly basis for meetings, knowledge-sharing and team-building activities. You are someone who takes the initiative, quickly recognises commercial opportunities and builds a sustainable client portfolio with conviction.
Profile
For this role, we are looking for a commercially-minded professional with strong drive, good interpersonal skills and sufficient experience to make an impact independently. Ideally, you will have 3 to 5 years’ relevant experience in business development, sales or account management within a B2B environment.
You have a customer-focused, analytical and results-oriented mindset, and are able to conduct business discussions in a professional and persuasive manner. You feel at ease in a role centred on prospecting, follow-up and securing new business.
The ideal candidate will possess:
- 3 to 5 years’ experience in business development, sales or a similar commercial role;
- strong prospecting and negotiation skills;
- experience in developing and managing a sales pipeline;
- the ability to analyse customer needs and translate them into concrete proposals;
- excellent communication skills in Dutch, complemented by a professional approach to customer contact;
- a proactive, independent and enterprising attitude;
- an interest in energy solutions and a willingness to gain in-depth knowledge of the sector;
- the ability to collaborate effectively with technical experts and internal stakeholders;
- a weekly presence at the head office in Genk.
A bachelor’s or master’s degree is an advantage, but above all, commercial acumen, the ability to persuade and a strong motivation to develop in the role are what make the difference.

Our client is a growing SME with its head office in Genk. Our client advises on and coordinates the implementation of energy-saving technologies for B2B clients. Their focus lies on: relighting, charging infrastructure, energy audits, CO₂ reduction plans, support for PV installations, energy buffering and measurement campaigns.
