Vacancy

Banking and insurance adviser

Location: Kortemark, West Flanders, Belgium Specialisation: Finance Salary: € 2.500 - € 3.500 gross / month Contracttype: Indefinite time Hours: 37.5 h/week Work ritme: Day

Function

As a Banking and Insurance Adviser, you are a familiar face to the branch's clients. You divide your time between reception duties and day-to-day banking transactions on the one hand, and advising on and following up insurance files on the other.

The core focus of your role lies within insurance. You work closely with your colleagues and are given the necessary space to further develop your own client relationships.

Your responsibilities will specifically include:

  • You welcome clients and assist them with their day-to-day banking transactions, such as deposits and other routine transactions.
  • You answer telephone calls and ensure that clients are directed to the right colleague.
  • You primarily advise private clients, sole traders, and SMEs on their insurance needs.
  • You manage and monitor BOAR insurance policies, including fire, motor, and family insurance.
  • You also handle life insurance and guide clients with their insurance queries.
  • You identify additional needs during conversations and propose suitable solutions.
  • You work closely with your colleagues on the further follow-up and development of insurance files.

You do not need to do everything on your own. Within the branch, collaboration is central and you can count on the support of colleagues with more experience in insurance.

Profile

For this role, we are looking for someone who is socially and commercially minded and enjoys building a personal relationship with clients.

  • You preferably have some initial experience in banking or insurance.
  • You have a solid basic knowledge of insurance, preferably within BOAR and/or life insurance.
  • You have a commercial mindset and naturally think along with clients about their financial and insurance needs.
  • You have strong communication skills and feel comfortable in direct client contact.
  • You work independently, take initiative, and are willing to take on responsibility.
  • You are flexible and enjoy a varied range of tasks.
  • You are a true team player and consider it important to support your colleagues.
  • You communicate in an open and transparent way.

You do not need to be an outspoken salesperson who actively engages in cold prospecting. It is primarily about someone who recognises opportunities during natural client interactions and responds to them in an appropriate manner.

Organisation

You will join an independent banking and insurance branch in the Kortemark region. The branch forms part of a larger entity through a planned merger with a second location in the region. Both sites will be retained and will together form a team of approximately 12 employees.

The branch is known for its personal and family-oriented approach. Clients are familiar with the faces behind the counter and place great value on personal contact. Internally, that same sense of involvement carries through. Colleagues work closely together, support one another where needed, and are given sufficient autonomy to take on their own responsibilities.

Work is carried out with shared branch targets. Individual sales targets are not the focus. The team reviews results together and determines where additional emphasis is needed.

In addition, future plans are on the agenda. There are plans for a new branch where both teams can continue to expand their activities in due course.

Offer

You will join a small-scale branch where personal contact, trust, and collaboration are central. You will have a varied role with a good degree of autonomy and the opportunity to develop your expertise further in banking and insurance.

What can you expect?

  • A full-time position of 37.5 hours per week. A 4/5 working arrangement is open to discussion.
  • Wednesday afternoons the branch is closed to clients, allowing for a flexible arrangement.
  • 20 days of annual leave, supplemented by bank holidays.
  • An attractive remuneration package, tailored to your experience and profile.
  • Meal vouchers of €8 per day worked.
  • A group insurance scheme with a contribution of between 3 and 5%, depending on annual turnover.
  • A hospitalisation insurance policy for you and your entire family.
  • Eco-vouchers.
  • A possible net allowance, depending on your role and needs.
  • A general banking training programme to get to know the bank's systems and products.
  • Supplementary insurance training tailored to your knowledge and experience.

You will have the freedom to chart your own course and continue to grow within the branch. Experience and independence are important, but your personality and the way you interact with clients and colleagues also make the difference.
