Accounting supervisor
Function
As an Accounting Supervisor, you will oversee the quality of the accounting and reporting for the corporate entities. At the same time, you will play a key role in the further optimisation of the financial processes.
In practical terms, this means, amongst other things:
- You will supervise and act as the point of contact for two corporate accountants who handle the accounts from start to finish.
- You will review the accounts and closely monitor financial transactions and reports.
- You analyse P&L variances and investigate the underlying causes.
- You will assist with the monthly and annual closing processes and monitor the quality and timing of reporting.
- You will be responsible for producing reports on accounting and financial analysis.
- You take a critical look at existing financial processes and identify areas where efficiency can be improved.
- You will help to digitise and automate processes using the ERP system and AI tools.
- Your responsibilities will include providing support with intercompany invoicing, cross-charging and management fees.
- You will prepare audit reports and act as a point of contact for auditors.
- You will be responsible for preparing the financial data and reports requested by external bodies.
- You will be given the opportunity to further develop your expertise over time in areas such as management accounting or taxation.
Profile
For this role, we are not looking for a traditional bookkeeper who is content to carry out routine tasks. We are looking for someone who understands what lies behind the figures and who is not afraid to scrutinise them critically.
You recognise yourself in the following points:
- You hold a bachelor’s degree in Accountancy and Taxation or a similar financial qualification.
- You have around 3 to 4 years’ relevant experience in an accounting or finance role.
- You have a good grasp of accounting, enabling you to quickly get to grips with financial processes, accounting software and reporting.
- You have strong analytical skills and spontaneously ask the question: “Why is this done this way, and could it be done better?”
- You work accurately, structured and have an eye for detail.
- You have a very good knowledge of Excel. Experience with Microsoft Business Central or other ERP systems would be a strong advantage.
- Experience with various ERP systems would be an advantage.
- You’re interested in AI, digitalisation and organising financial processes more efficiently.
- You take the initiative and come up with your own ideas. You don’t need to know everything already, but you do need to be able to contribute something right from the start.
- You are a fluent communicator and know how to engage with colleagues in a constructive manner.
- You feel at ease in a complex financial environment and enjoy getting to the bottom of things.
- Experience of having managed the accounts in-house yourself is an advantage. This does not necessarily rule out a fully outsourced accounting arrangement, provided you have gained sufficient insight into the accounts and are able to critically assess the processes.
Organisation
You will be joining an international group with a strong entrepreneurial spirit, comprising various companies and activities under one umbrella. Based at the head office in Kortrijk, you will be working alongside colleagues in accounting, finance and consolidation.
The finance team has a direct and forward-thinking culture. There is scope for initiative and for people who don’t simply carry on doing what has been done for years, but who also dare to think about how things can be improved.
Digitalisation and AI form an important part of this vision for the future. You will therefore not only be responsible for helping to oversee existing financial operations, but also for further improving them.
Offer
You will take on a challenging role with an impact at corporate level, within an international and growing organisation.
- A permanent contract within a stable and growing organisation.
- A role in which you will play an active part in the ongoing digitalisation and automation of finance.
- Working directly with the Finance Manager.
- Room for own initiative and responsibility.
- Opportunities to further develop your knowledge.
- An attractive remuneration package including, amongst other things, a company car, meal vouchers, a net expenses allowance, hospitalisation insurance and group insurance.
- Hybrid working, with the option to work from home two days a week, although you are expected to be in the office every Tuesday and Friday.
