Accountancy consultancy for SMEs

Function

As an accountant, you will work on a project basis for various SME clients. Your responsibilities will be tailored to the project, your experience and the client’s needs.

Depending on your assignment, you will include the following, amongst other things:

• You will be responsible for the day-to-day financial administration.
• You process purchase and sales invoices.
• You will record financial transactions and monitor intercompany accounts.
• You will prepare VAT returns and Intrastat declarations.
• You will monitor outstanding accounts receivable and payables.
• You process payments to suppliers.
• You will assist with monthly and annual account closings.
• You will assist with the preparation of annual accounts.
• You will prepare financial reports, such as budgets, KPI reports and cost analyses.
• You bring structure to a client’s financial administration when they need it.
• You’ll contribute ideas on how to improve our financial processes.
• You liaise directly with the client and ensure that your project makes real progress.

No two projects are the same. You’ll be assigned to roles where your expertise adds the most value, whilst also having the opportunity to broaden your knowledge further.

Profile

For this role, we are looking for an accountant with sufficient experience to work independently with clients.

You recognise yourself in the following:

• You have at least two years’ experience in accountancy.
• Experience working in an accountancy firm is an advantage, but not an absolute requirement.
• You have a good practical knowledge of bookkeeping and financial administration.
• You work accurately and independently.
• You are efficient and know how to set priorities.
• You communicate clearly with customers and colleagues.
• You find it interesting to work in different environments and with different systems.
• You are open to new tools and ways of working.
• You hold a Category B driving licence and are willing to travel for various projects.
• You don’t need a strictly defined set of tasks: you find it interesting to keep reassessing where your expertise is best utilised.

A specific qualification is not required. Knowledge, experience and drive carry greater weight here.

Organisation

You will be working in a consultancy environment that connects financial and legal professionals with companies in need of temporary or permanent support.

As a consultant, you won’t be working in one fixed location for years on end. You’ll be assigned to various projects at SMEs in West and East Flanders. This gives you the opportunity to familiarise yourself with different business environments, sectors, accounting software and working methods.
