Financial Controller

As Financial Controller within this international company in the region of Westerlo, your duties will include the following:

• You are responsible for the timely and accurate monthly and annual closing. You work mainly in BE GAAP but a number of matters must also be done in US GAAP because of the international nature of the business.
• You are in charge of calculating commissions (stock, commissions, etc.).
• You will coordinate, report and manage cost prices in the software package.
• You will be responsible for the reconciliation of inventory, sales and cost of goods sold.
• You will prepare VAT returns and related reporting.
• You prepare the year-end closing and audit.
• During audits, you will be the auditors' first point of contact.
• You will provide support to the Finance Manager on various analyses and projects.
• In time, you will be able to help think about possible process improvements.
• You will operate in a team with the 2 other finance colleagues of the Belgian office and try to support them where you can.

Our client is an international company based (with their Belgian plant) in the region of Westerlo. In addition to the plant in Westerlo, they have several other sites around the world, ranging from production to distribution sites. They employ a total of about 1,000 people worldwide, of which about 35 work for the organisation in Belgium.
Our client has now been in the industry for more than 60 years and in the meantime has experienced tremendous growth, both natural growth and through various acquisitions.

For this Financial Controller role, we are looking for someone who can identify with the following:

• You enjoyed an economic education. These include a Master's degree in Applied Economics, a Master's degree in Commercial Engineering and the like, or you are equivalent through experience.
• You can expect initial experience of about three years in an accounting or similar role.
• Your command of Dutch and English at a professional level as you will regularly report in English to colleagues from other offices.
• Knowledge of the JDE software package is a plus but not a requirement.
• You are fluent in MS Office, especially with Excel.
• You are someone who is willing to take responsibility.
• Punctuality is a given for you.
• You do not normally need to perform overtime but during peak periods you are willing to go the extra mile.
• You are a team player as you will work closely with the two other finance colleagues and you will maintain a good relationship with the Finance Manager in the Netherlands.
