Site Manager

Function

As a site manager in Genk, you are responsible for the day-to-day, safe and efficient running of the site. You maintain a visible presence on site, manage staff and oversee the quality, productivity, order and safety of all activities.

Your main responsibilities are:

• Receiving, checking and correctly assessing incoming materials and their quality.
• Document exceptional deliveries, quality deviations and any deductions, providing clear information and photographs.
• Monitoring daily production figures and communicating any deviations in a timely manner.
• Organising and supervising the safe loading and unloading of lorries.
• Ensure that materials are processed and sorted correctly.
• The safe and effective use of cranes, forklift trucks, shears, the shredder and other equipment.
• Keep the site tidy, well-organised and safe.
• Give staff clear instructions, allocate the work and monitor its progress.
• Address unsafe situations immediately and ensure that staff and visitors wear the required personal protective equipment.
• Carry out daily checks, maintenance and follow up on reports of faults relating to machinery and equipment.
• Report and follow up on technical issues, repairs, orders and maintenance work in a timely manner.
• Welcome customers, suppliers and drivers in a professional manner and provide clear instructions on loading, unloading and safety rules.
• Work closely with the agency and pass on important operational, technical or quality-related information immediately.

You set a clear example. You consistently adhere to health and safety and work procedures, remain calm during busy periods and take responsibility when the situation calls for it. You also ensure that the site is left safe and tidy at the end of the working day.

Profile

For this role, we are looking for an experienced and hands-on manager who can switch effortlessly between operational supervision, staff support, machine safety and communication with customers and suppliers. Ideally, you will have experience as a site manager, shift supervisor, site manager or in a similar role within an industrial, logistics, technical or recycling environment.

Ideally, you should have the following:

• Relevant experience in an operational shipyard or production environment.
• Experience in managing, allocating and monitoring tasks.
• Practical knowledge of safety procedures, personal protective equipment and safe loading and unloading operations.
• Experience of, or a good understanding of, the safe operation of cranes, forklift trucks, shears, shredders and other industrial machinery.
• The ability to carry out daily machine checks, identify faults and report maintenance or repairs correctly.
• An eye for different types of materials, variations in quality, production data and accurate record-keeping.
• Sufficient technical expertise to demonstrate checks and to train staff in this area.
• Good communication skills and a professional attitude towards staff, customers, suppliers and drivers.
• A responsible, consistent and solution-oriented approach to work.
• A willingness to maintain a visible presence on the shop floor and to demonstrate the desired behaviour oneself.
• The ability to remain calm and clear-headed in the face of irregularities, disputes or operational problems.
• Willingness to work in Genk and to actively monitor the day-to-day running of the site.
